2006 Buckeyes Forecast, Recruiting, and The Game (Merged)

Scholarship players.

Brandon Underwood, Sirjo Welch, and Devin Jordan were all left off of the newly-posted roster on the official site. Jordan was mentioned briefly in the new outlook, though. I don't have any info., just wondering if anyone else does? Thanks.

No love from Lee Corso:

8. The Ohio State bandwagon won't be crowded for long.

Everybody's got them No. 1, but have you seen now many tackles they lost on defense? I don't count starters. I count the number of tackles and Ohio State lost their top eight tacklers from a year ago. And a bunch of those guys were three-year starters. Not only do the Buckeyes have to go to Texas (on Sept. 9), they have to go to Iowa (on Sept. 30). That will be a very difficult game because Iowa is going to be really good.

had to post this somewhere, this seemed as good a place as any... first is The Game 2005, second is The Game 2001.

Hey, LVBuck, good post and it made me notice two things:

1. Both the 2001 and 2002 UM-OSU game ended on an OSU INT.

2. We have had good success with recent #28 tailbacks. John Wells was pretty dominant (showed it in that michigan game), Mo Hall left OSU as being our best all time kick returner, and now we have Beanie Wells (#1 recruit in the nation) suited up in #28. I wouldnt doubt if that number becomes retired soon, we are likely to get a bronze statue from someone in that number.

what happens if i tell you that i tend to agree with him? do the memories of 2004 fade so quickly?
You won't get any grief from me, I agree too. Our September schedule and rebuilt defense are not conducive to winning a national title, and I think some people need to prepare themselves for that fact.

I'm as optimistic about our prospects for 2006 as anyone, but @Texas, Penn State, and @Iowa in the span of four weekends is not a cakewalk.

I see your point, Dryden. However, I think JT and the team are psychologically prepared for the season. I see no gloating, no "police blotter" stuff, but do see lots of hard work, thanks to Lichter, Tress, and company.

I'm not ready to buy tickets for Glendale just yet, but I do get tired of the "talking heads" dismissing the Bucks out of hand in Corso-esque fashion. This is why I took the Maisel Top 25 with a graing of salt--ESPN, right?

Yeah, I'm prepared maybe to lose once or twice tops--but then being underestimated isn't all that bad of a thing!

I just new Sporting News magazine and here is a quote from Lou Holtz:

"I picked them No.2 this preseason [Notre Dame]. I picked Ohio State No.1 if their defense will come through, but I think Notre Dame really is going to be a great team. I think Brady Quinn is going to have a tremendous year. I personally believe he will win the Heisman."

Handing out trinkets to Big Ten favorites
July 28, 2006
Yeah, yeah ... awards usually are reserved for the postseason. But not in my slice of generic suburban heaven. (No more Applebees or Walgreens! Please!)
I have toy bins filled with junky, plastic trinkets I'm dying to get out of the family room. I stepped on a damn ball-and-cup game my son got in a gift bag at a recent birthday party. This stuff has to go! So, here I go.

If you're going to post Lou Holtz quotes, you could at least have the decency to hand out paper towels for the slobber.
