How did the person who voted Florida #1 not get fired on the spot? The Harris poll is a disgrace.

Maybe they were just trying to over compensate for anyone who voted Michigan #2 because they really didn't want to see a rematch.

I'm wondering how long we're going to have to hear from Michigan fans about how they would have beat us in a rematch and we were afraid and they should have won the NC this year and on and on and on... despite the fact that we beat them. I'm really hoping USC beats them in order to shut them up so we don't have to hear about it for the rest of our lives, which I'm sure we will if they win the Rose Bowl.

Eh... let em think what they want. It's an easy enough counter-argument:

"Scoreboard, bitch"

I thoroughly enjoy hearing the "we would have beat you in a rematch" comments...Come on, this is the '90's in reverse. I hearby welcome each and every TSUN fan to come here and tell me how they "woulda, coulda, and shoulda". I love every second of it. I want them to feel this the rest of their lives, like the way I can close my eyes and still see Shawn Springs slipping to the ground and me yelling "Oh no, no, no, no!!!".

This is great!!!

Haha, I guess I'm a tad too young to remember/appreciate/hate the 90's, so it's mostly just annoying for me. :wink2:

Good point, that doesn't mean it won't be annoying as hell though, but then again I'll have an excuse to call scum fans bitches, so I guess it works out.

They were dark days my friend.

Yeah, my recolection of the 90's involves cheering for Eddie George and Orlando Pace and then looking for the next Eddie George on the team, I remember being a big fan of Pepe Pearson and always cheering for him to do well, other than that I don't remember much.

Well, imagine starting 10-0 every year, but finishing 10-2...That about sums it up for me...:smash:

Not sure if this belongs here or elsewhere, but I heard a scUMer on the radio this morning actually ask if tOSU blows out UF and scUM beats USC, would there possibly be a split NC? I was laughing my ass off at that one. Sadly, the sports show host agreed that it was a possibility.

Now, maybe, in a theoretical world that if UF pulls the upset and scUM blows out USC; there could be a case for scUM in the AP.

If USC had beaten UCLA, would scUM have finished higher than UF in the final polls? Most people think yes.

But since USC was beaten, all of a sudden people realized UF was better than scUM?

THe absurdity continues...

Herbie mentioned this on the pathetic espn bowl show they had last night. He said that people are now claiming that all of Florida's wins are more impressive than Michigan's.

But back when Florida was compiling those "impressive" wins, they weren't being ranked higher than Michigan. So now all of a sudden the voters are impressed with Florida's wins? Doubt it.

That my friend is my major beef with the current system. Voters can do whatever the hell they want. They can vote Oregon #1 because they smoke crack and think the Ducks have the best uniforms. How about that assclown in the Harris that voted UF #1. The voters are not obligated to vote for a particular reason.

If given simply the task of voting who is the second best team, I think this group would have voted scUM #2. I also think that USC never would have jumped them.

That being said, put in the same position, I would have voted UF #2. I didn't agree with Nebraska or Oklahoma getting into the NC game the years that they did after not winning thier conference. I don't think it should be an option in the BCS. I think it remains a possiblity because the SEC/Big 12 conferences don't want to take themselves out of the title game because they have confernce title games. I don't think anyone imagined that 2 teams from the same conference could end up at the top of the polls. I think the vote was less about the possibility of the rematch, and more about not wanting to see 2 Big 10 teams play for the NC. I happen to agree that without a playoff, I would not want to see this either. Had UF lost to Arkansas, I would have preferred to see Louisville, Boise State, Oklahoma, USC, or even Boise St before scUM.

It comes down to who do you pick?
A. The second best team based upon your own biased perception of who looks best.
B. The second best team based upon some objective criteria that you create.
C. The second best team who won their conference.
D. Any other reason you want.

I don't think there is much point in over-analyzing why voters moved which teams where. USC was ranked ahead of Florida because voters perceived USC to be unbeatable, whereas it was only a matter of time before Florida would lose. It turned out to be the opposite, so voters flipped their teams accordingly.

The argument was never about whether or not Michigan was a good team, it was simply a case that someone, anyone, deserves to go ahead of Michigan.

Michigan had their chance on Nov 18 and they lost. That fact is indisputable.

Ohio State did not deserve double jeopardy by playing Michigan again, and Michigan did not even win or tie its own conference.

Those were the overwhelming sentiments, and I tend to agree. An All-Big-10 title game would have been cool, but the only way I could support that match-up is if there is clearly no other deserving team. Given that Ohio State and Michigan had already played each other in a game that was not marred by controversial officiating or ended with a miraculous finish that left doubt as to which was the better team, I have no problem with voters jockeying their horses around to influence a more compelling match-up.

Of the two possible scenarios: Shafting the SEC champ a second time in three years and granting Michigan a rematch, or bumping Florida over Michigan to allow two conference champs to settle it on the field, the latter was the lesser of two evils.

The fact that Ohio State already beat Michigan ends all arguments.
