2006-2007 season college basketball thread

and it won't get any easier for dook. they still have two games against unc, two against a good maryland team (who always plays dook tough anyway), one at bc (beat already but bc will play dook much better this time), one against gt (who beat dook by eleven at home), one at clemson (who lost by two at cameron), and one at st. john's (should be easy win for dook).

i think that dook will lose both to unc, split with maryland, split with bc/clemson, and beat st. john's. if this happens, dook will finish the regular season with a 22-9 overall and 9-8 conference record.

that would make me happy... well, that and a first or second round loss in the tourney.

While that might be great they are not a team that I would want to see get a 6 or 7 seed in my part of the bracket...

I'm guessing something like a 4 or 5 and if it's a 5, look for them to lose in the first round in one of those 5-12 upsets that happen every year.

If they finish 22-9 with a 9-7 record in the ACC I would guess that is about where they would put them...

true, which is partly why i stated that i would also be pleased with a blue devil loss in the first or second round. nonetheless, if ohio state were to face a 6 or 7 seed, i'd have to know who the other 6 or 7 seeds are to determine that i'd rather see the team face them instead. dook does not have a dynamic offense. paulus is a slower version of neitzel and mcroberts would be controlled by oden and hunter. what would worry me most is that schreyer would heat up from the outside. coach k plays an overaggressive man defense that works against teams who don't take care of the ball but falls apart against teams that take care of the ball. there is no way that dook's guards could handle conley and butler.

i've never liked duke, and i admit that i'm biased against them. that said, i know that my analysis of their current team is fairly accurate. coach k also has a propensity to run his stars into the ground, starting from the first game. last season and the season before that, he played reddick and williams for more minutes in blowouts than he did in close games. i went through all of the games decided by 15 points or more and found that each of his two key players averaged more minutes when fewer minutes were called for. i recall that in two games decided by more than 30 points, reddick played for more than 35 minutes apiece. everyone claimed that dook had a short bench, which is why the players ran out of steam. crap. coach k could have gone nine or ten deep, but he chose to wear out his most important players' legs when the players who should have gotten more time just rode the pine.

well, i guess that last point is neither here nor there. anyway, while i normally wouldn't want to face dook in the tournament, i bet you that i'd prefer for the bucks to play duke instead of 2 of the other 3 same seeds in the tournament. it all depends on matchups, and i see the osu-dook matchup greatly in our team's favor. we'll see just how vulnerable dook is this week. i'll be surprised if the first game against north carolina is decided by fewer than 15 points. if lawson shreds the defense and wright cleans the broads, say goodnight, gracie.

I hear what you are saying, but Paulus is very capable of managing a game and with McRoberts down low they have a game changer in the paint...Nelson is also a lock down defender and has quite a bit of experience...

I would say alot of their problems have been due to depth and youth...

They really only go about 7 deep and believe 3 of them are frosh, not sure about McClure.

They are a team that has talent to be a top 15 team and at a 6,7 seed with everyone underestimating them and Coach K as the coach and the calls Dook can get some times that is just a team I would like to stay away from...

I also would be suprised to see them end up at about 24-7 instead of 22-9...

speaking of duke....talk about an unatheltic team...that is a team with 4 role players starting and 1 game changer in McRoberts...I wouldn't want McRoberts as my game changer however...this team is going to struggle for a few years to come...they haven't recruited any big time athletes...it's like they sign all role polayers who can hopefully play together...the loss of sheldon williams, and reddick will be the starting point for a team that is better than average but not great for years to come.....I believe Carolina has at least 4 or 5 years to dominate the ACC

he's capable but i don't think he's very capable. in his four games against currently ranked teams and four games against likely tournament teams, paulus has an assist-to-turnover ratio of exactly 1:1. including the games against much inferior teams, his overall ratio increases to only 1.3:1. while this stat isn't the sole determiner of value or impact, his unremarkable play exists beyond the stats.

That is their problem, 12 of their 14 players are freshmen or sophomores. They aren't doing all that bad considering their age. Although our team is quite young too, at least we have 5 veterans to teach the youngins how it is.

Not sure I agree with this, Scheyer could be a game changer when hot, and Henderson is just taking longer to adjust to the college game as he is going to be good as well...

They also have singler coming in next year and I am sure some more studs...

I think McRoberts will leave, but Dook will be good next year as well...

As for Paulus he has struggled this year trying to turn into a leader of the team, but I think he is getting better....
