2006-2007 season college basketball thread

1. If I were voting, UCLA would not drop in the rankings. No Collison plus long trip to Morgantown = ridiculous trap game.
2. Much as I wanted to see the Gaytors take it on the chin in Lexington, I had to admit that I have never seen a hoop team get homered like they did. Noah and Horford got mugged down low.

They have lost 2 games in the past 2 weeks to unranked team, while on the road, the #2 team in the country has to win these games to stay rated there IMO...

I agree about the refs being homers...

I agree they should drop no excuses 2 in 2 weeks to unranked teams great teams find a way to win, that being said they might just wake up and rout some teams in march.

I am really not how strong this team is...They do have some great players in Afflalo, Collison, Shipp and Mbah a Moute but they really only go about 7 deep and don't have really have a strong inside presence...They go 6'9'' and 6'8'' at the front line, but Mata only plays about half the game, so if they face a team like UNC, UF, tOSU, Pitt who is going to defend guys like Hansbrough, Wright, Noah, Horford, Oden, Gray, etc...

They do have great guard play tho...

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. The new guys at West Virginia can now brag about doing the same thing the NCAA Tournament team did last year ? beating UCLA. Alex Ruoff scored 18 points and the Mountaineers made up for a lack of experience by taking a big lead and holding on for a 70-65 win over No. 2 UCLA yesterday.

Duke is so average this year...Duke is in really bad shape this year and the next few as I mentioned before.....they need some game-changing Freshmen for next year to be legit at all...I'm not sure what they have coming in, but assuming McRoberts leaves, next year will be just as bad for the Dukies

Kyle Singler might have something to say about that, and I will still hold to my thoughts that this is not a team I would like to see as a 6 or 7 seed in my bracket...

I wouldn't want to face them as a 6 or 7 in my bracket no doubt...it has more to do with coach K than anyone on the team though...most experts I've heard keep saying this is an atypical year, and Duke wiull be back trading blows with UNC next year and I strongly disagree....Paulus, Sheyer, McClure, Thomas, Henderson isn't a very scary starting 5...maybe Singler and whoever else they bring in as Freshmen will make huge contributions but the 5 I just named won't be in the top half of starting 5's in the ACC IM0....Scheyer can play but he needs a penetrating PG who can consistently get him open shots, and Paulas will never be that guy...Henderson will be good, but is he capable of being a big-time scorer? He'll have to be because no-one else out of that group are excellent at creating their own opportunities.....Anyways, I just strongly feel Roy Williams has completely out-recruited coach K and is much better set for the future

I will agree that Williams has outrecruited K, but Singler is the top SF in the country and they have two 4 stars coming in with him, but not sure how good they are...

Scheyer will eventually become much like Reddick, but at this point doesnt have the driving game...

Two of the best players in the country happen to come from Oregon(Love and Singler) and we don't get either one. Damnit! :mad2:

My issue with Duke is how unathletic theyve become....it just seems like theyre running with a bunch of Mike Dunleavy's instead of the athletic, get it to the hoop type.....I can't speak to Singler because I've never seen him play, but some guys are completely dependent on who's around them, and Duke just seem to be full of those types right now....I remeber back to when they had a threat at every posoition...J Williams, Battier, Brand, Dunleavy, Maggette, Caldwell...whoever you wanna name...Dunleavy was a 5 star coming out I believe, and was a great player but he needed scorers and athletes around him...Duke doesn't have, and hasn't been recruitng those athletes IMO.
