Nittany Lions' play has coach scratching his head
Monday, January 29, 2007
Penn State's men's basketball team was expected to make a real run for the middle of the Big Ten pack and a shot at the NCAA Tournament this season. Instead, after Saturday's loss to Minnesota, the Nittany Lions are stuck in a last-place tie with Northwestern at 1-6.
Penn State is allowing 43.8 percent shooting from the field and 34.6 percent from behind the 3-point line, both worst in the Big Ten. Coach Ed DeChellis is searching for reasons why Penn State's 2-3 zone isn't working this year, when nearly all of the Nittany Lions' major players are back.
