Nittany Lions' play has coach scratching his head

Monday, January 29, 2007

Penn State's men's basketball team was expected to make a real run for the middle of the Big Ten pack and a shot at the NCAA Tournament this season. Instead, after Saturday's loss to Minnesota, the Nittany Lions are stuck in a last-place tie with Northwestern at 1-6.
Penn State is allowing 43.8 percent shooting from the field and 34.6 percent from behind the 3-point line, both worst in the Big Ten. Coach Ed DeChellis is searching for reasons why Penn State's 2-3 zone isn't working this year, when nearly all of the Nittany Lions' major players are back.

Spartans need quick turnaround this week

At Illinois, then Buckeyes visit Breslin Saturday

By Joe Rexrode
Lansing State Journal
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Surrounded by reporters in the locker room, just a few minutes after his heroics came up inches short in a 66-64 loss to Ohio State, Drew Neitzel was asked if he's already looking forward to Saturday's rematch with the Buckeyes.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah," Neitzel said, searching for the right words and pausing for a moment. "Yeah."
Everyone had a laugh. Then Neitzel continued.

By Stacy Clardie

Carl Landry has been Purdue?s go-to guy in the post, but he showed off some of his perimeter and ball-handling skills Saturday in a victory over Illinois.
In the Boilermakers? only game of the week, Landry took advantage of his athleticism and being defended by 6-foot-10, 245-pound Shaun Pruitt.
That game plan was by design.

Michigan St.'s laying a big fat turd right now.

You meant to say Mr. Neitzel laying a big fat egg tonite...

If he plays anywhere near what he did the other nite MSU wins tonite...

Honestly this is a good thing for the big ten. With Illinois final 9 game stretch where the only time they won't be favored is in Indiana they should make the tourney with this win...
