2005 Alamo Bowl: Nebraska 32, Michigan 28 (final)

Here are the main requests from the officials from last year's survey:
Receive same gifts as players and coaches.
(this policy is set by the NCAA, not by the Bowls)
Improve hotel accommodations.
(I think they want to stay away from the players and fans)
Minimum four-day stay.
(I don't think this came from the Motor City Bowl refs!)
Provide air travel for spouses.
(seems reasonable to me)
Provide larger vehicles for officials.
(At least they didn't ask for limos)
Increase game fees.
(Should be based on merit)
Increase per diem.
(You will have Mickey D's and like it)
Provide "prime" access to complimentary tickets
(yeah, don't let those stinking fans get any good seats - besides the game is all about the officials, not the players or fans)

i was driving in the car today and heard ESPN radio playing both the scUM broadcast and the Neb broadcast of that last play. The Neb radio crew was just as clueless as the officials. The most bizarre part was the way the refs just ran off the field, like leaving the scene of a crime.

Oh, wow, ESPN reports that failure to communicate (mechanical / electrical) from replay booth was the cause of the 1st lost time-out, and that had that communication had occurred - even after Carr gives up the TO then the refs should have given back the TO. They are reporting this as fact, not as opinion.

Another Stadium & Main Meltdown is predicted.

Wow. At halftime of the Emerald Bowl, Mark May just ripped Carr and the scUM coaching staff. For those who didn't see it, ESPN replayed the final play of the Alamo Bowl and then showed Carr at what seemed to be a postgame press conference. He was basically whining and laying all of the blame at the hands of the referees (big surprise) and commented that his players deserve better.

May then launches into a commentary against scUM, saying that he agrees that the scUM players deserve better, but from the scUM coaching staff, considering the fact that scUM blew a big 4th quarter lead. Then he says that Carr's 1-4 vs. Tressel and makes a reference to that kind of performance running John Cooper out of the job here in Columbus.

I love it. It's about time that the media called Carr out for never blaming his coaching staff for a loss, but instead always claiming it was a result of bad luck or poor officiating. :scum4:

buckeyeboy - for once I absolutely agree with May. As the wife and I were talking last night, he gets all those top 10 recruiting classes and does virtually nil with them year in and year out. Then we both agreed - Hope they keep him forever.

(Damn Westbuck - beat me to that!)

Here's the good news for the scUMers.

In 2007 Henne and Mike I have no Hart will be SR's, Maningham and Baas will be JR's and the game will be in AA.

If they can't pull off the Navarre/Perry one-good-game-as-a-SR-in-my-whole-fucked-ass-career vs OSU thing( scUM ers call this being a Mi**igan man) at this point then obviously they never will.

Also the emergence of Baas and MM will finally give Henne back his patented "chuck that sumbitch up in the air and pray" passing attack from 2004.

Thats about all I can come up...except Burgess and Crable will still be there :slappy:

For your reading pleasure. This is the overall theme from the scUM fans :)

I am currently trying to get out from underneath a tidal wave of delusion, vomit, anger, disappointment, hatred, and everything else horrible that comes with being obsessed with our always torturous Michigan football team. More ideas, analysis, and words will come later as the emotional tide recedes and I can again breathe the sobering air of perspective. Until that time, here are some numbers. Draw your own conclusions.
Oh, and by the way: How many losers does Lloyd Carr have to lose to? Mason? Brown? Callahan? Willingham? The players change; the results don't...

Pierre Woods:

"Tyler Ecker got tackled by someone who came off the bench, a tight end, 80-something. It was an offensive player. The play was still live, and I was in front rooting for him (Woods was out of the play, running along on the sidelines) ... the whistle hadn't blown."

Man and Pierre is from Glenville. It looks like it has worn off on him.

That blog is hysterical:
It is time for people in Ann Arbor to wake up. This is the worst coaching staff in the history of Michigan football, and probably one of the worst in college football. Nine losses in two years at Michigan is unheard of.
Yeah, you tell 'em bro. It's unheard of for Michigan to lose nine games in two years (*cough* 1983 - 1984 *cough*). Normally Michigan only loses eight ...
