2005-2006 Latest Men's Basketball Rankings (Currently #6)

What do you think our new ranking will be when they come out tomorrow? I'm thinking we move up at least 2 since both Texas and Pitt lost. We could jump ahead of GW too since they struggled and we won the Big Ten. So we could end up top 5 tomorrow.

Seth had Duke dropped to #5. I don't see that happening - not saying it shouldn't, but they will drop to 3 IMO.

Yesterday, the RPIs had us at #3 and Duke at #5 after our win...today I saw us at #4 in RPI (forgot to notice where Duke was). I would not be surprised to see us jump up at least two places...

The last shall be first: Florida State is the final at-large team in today's NCAA bracket projection, bumping slumping Michigan.

  •
[*] Four bids for the Missouri Valley Conference. Not five or six, like you'll see elsewhere, but not the three (or fewer) bids bigger leagues would allow the MVC.
[*] Three bids for the Colonial Athletic Association: Hofstra, NC-Wilmington and George Mason are a combined 71-19.
[*] Florida State bumps Michigan. FSU has won six of eight, including a win against No. 1 Duke. Michigan has lost six of eight, including a loss to Purdue.

Gotta give SD a lot of credit, I was impressed. Gonzaga definitely plays at the level of their competition.

I am tired of everyone giving Gonzaga more credit than they are due. Every year they are ranked way higher than they should be, based mostly on the fact that they run up a really good record against weak opponents. When they face the big boys in the tournament, they always show their true colors, losing early on. IMO, they're a 4 seed, no higher. And if you don't believe me, realize that they just got taken to overtime on their home floor by San Diego.

Uh where did I give Gonzaga credit? I said I was impressed by San Diego for hanging tough and that the Zags play at the level of their competition - my explanation of why they just got taken to OT by SD at home...
