Which doesn't take anything away from Smith.

He may well be all his cheerleaders have been claiming. God, I really hope so. All I hear people saying here (including myself) is that it's too early for anyone with a brain to really form a meaningful opinion.

Agreed. I, too, hope Troy is the answer and we run the table. However, I'm going to reserve judgement until he (and the team) proves it against a quality opponent.

I'm not joining the crowd on this one. It's not even 5 minutes into the second quarter and it's already been stated that no matter how good Smith plays today it still against Indiana. I can see where the poster that said it's a no-win situation for Smith. Play good - it was against Indiana. Play bad - I can't believe he couldn't get it done against Indiana. When you've lost three in a row a good game by anybody against any opponent and that person or team should get some credit for that game.

I think TS CAN win from this game. He'll get his confidence.

Remember, NCST, Marshall, Cincy and NW suck too and Zwick experienced some struggles in those games. I am not comparing the two (I have been a Zwick supported) but all things considered he looks good.

Of course, as I write this he just overshot SA:!

Which is why I've been saying that if he plays WELL today, he should get the start for next week automatically.

yep, there is a big difference between throwing the ball when you can run and throwing the ball when you can't. we gradded zwick against wiscy, we are grading smith against iu.

if troy does well i think he deserves a second start regardless of zwick's health. don't think he can ask anything more *shrug*.

oh and thats his second overthrow on a wide open wr. reminds me of another qb... but i digress, this is still very early to start judging smith on this game.

Indiana or not, Smith is looking like a savior right now. You can't take anything away from him.

So using that logic....all of the offensive woes are solved now? The O-line looks better against Indiana and the defense is flying around...does that mean anything against Indiana?

I agree that losing 3 in a row makes the need for ANY improvement necessary and desired, but everything I have read/posted has stated that this is a hard game to judge the team's progress. Nothing more, nothing less.

This is not a personal issue but some people are choosing to make it so.
