Smith's escapability is excellent...but when he secures more time he has to keep his eyes upfield. he escapes the pocket...he is running
Exactly. Our passing numbers are definitely going to be lower with Smith in there because he pulls down literally about 50% of the pass calls.

Apparently JT forgot to tell the team what he told the press last week after the game.

"On that reverse, I mean, all of a sudden he got around the corner and how silly to hold," said OSU Head Coach Jim Tressel. "I mean, they're not gonna catch him. We should just have each of our guys drop to a knee."

I just don't know if Smith can run this team. He isn't turning the ball over, but that's because he never throws the ball. This team needs someone who can just get the ball to our receivers, and Smith hasn't shown he's the guy. When you have the kind of talent we have at receiver, you must get more production out of the passing game.

I agree...there is no way any DB stays with a receiver after 4+ seconds. Receivers go into scramble drill when he starts rolling...no way to stick to them

No real upside in benching him though. We need to stick with someone, whether that be Zwick or Smith. He isn't turning the ball over because in the last 3 games, the guys who have had clear shots at it just haven't made the plays. But it's not a matter that he makes great reads and throws where the D can't get it. I mean, the pass to Herron was a pass to Herron. It's just Herron has soft hands like a marble statue does.

I still submit it doesn't really matter right now who our QB is. I just wish we'd develop one of them for the future.
