holmes had no shot....that pass was horrilbe....he had half the field wide open and it was thrown back against his momentum and over the the wrong shoulder...

it was a pretty spiral though.....i guess he does throw a nice deep ball....if how pretty it floats is all you give a damn about...
dude, that ball touched his hands. he had a chance.

I don't remember an OSU team that tackled as poorly as this one does. While it's a team thing IMO, one guy that seems to stand out here (at least today, so far) is Schlegel. I find myself wishing D'Andrea was still taking some reps there, because while he (too) might have found himself out of position on plays, he was a pretty sure tackler. We miss power hitters like Doss, Allen, Smith, Scott, etc.

Said it before, and I'll say it again. No QB is going to excel in this system. I expect to hear "at least Smith protected the ball" after this game, and like last week I probably won't say much about it, despite more evidence to the contrary. But the thing is, I don't lay as much blame at the feet of the QB (whoever it is) as some others do. I don't think Zwick is as much to blame for his struggles, and I don't think Smith is as much to blame for his. Which isn't to say they couldn't both perform better despite their system, OL and poor running game. But look, we go back to the same running game that Zwick was saddled with, and Troy looks like a mess of equal proportion. Take Pittman out and put Ross back in, and we're completely inept on offense.

No, I'm not including Ginn on offense, just because he's his own section of our team. We have our offensive offense, our poor tackling offensive defense, our great kicking/poor punting/poor coverage special teams, and then our great Ted Ginn, Jr.'s.

Not trying to be all down on them. I think Youboty is a good looking young player who has a real future ahead of him. So glad his scholarship wasn't pulled like Bucknuts reported on their front page (last year?).

I'm entirely perplexed about the total lack of passing to Ryan Hamby. When thrown to, he's largely caught them, he's a proven weapon from the past, and yet I don't remember his last catch.

We're going to miss Nugent SO much. I already do. I'm still down with planning some sort of kidnapping/brain washing deal to have him re-enroll at OSU next Fall as a freshman who walks on to the team as a kicker.

What happened to GameDay? I thought it was supposed to be at this game? Which always confused the hell out of me in of itself, so maybe I misunderstood.

Herbie, don't like Tress much? Lol.

Sorry if a lot of this is rehashing of what's already been said. Hadn't read the thread yet, just wanted to do a halftime brain dump so I can start fresh in the second half.

dude....could he possibly have caught it....ummm....no

you run full fucking speed one way and have someone throw the ball back over your wrong shoulder....lets see how many times you stop your momentum, spin, adjust a catch a ball that nips your fingers....

i disagree....the it touched his hands is one of those bunch of crap phrases i cant stand....

I am guessing from the comments I should be thankful that I am at work and only listening to the radio for the game. At least I taped it so I can fast forward to the two Ginn TDs then burn the rest of the tape eh?

haha Dihard yes it was just a tad bit over thrown, but if anything it hit both holmes hands....... Plus if he really wanted to he couldv'e caught the ball (diving) and made the catch inside the 5 yard line..... It wasn't the worlds best pass, but it was good enough to get into the endzone if the pass was caught.

Smith just needs to get back into a rythem with some short passes. He's not playing too bad right now, but we need to open things up. Its killing us that we're try'n to play like the Penn State game. Absolutly killing us.....

I'm not going to fire away. I don't want to be the negative guy.

Again I ask, what has to happen before changes are made to this offensive philosophy?

Tressel is an intelligent guy. He has to see that this isn't working. 17-0 and now you're 17-13? 53 total yards.

Loyalty to seniors is nice, but why isn't Ginn returning kicks as well? Why isn't Haw in there? Forget the red shirt. Ross sucks. Period. I don't even feel sorry for him now that he had that suspension. He's horrible.

It really isn't fun to watch them anymore. Never thought I'd say that. Maybe the second half will be better.

Positive guy. That's me!!! :hatepc:

Piney, the defense is really hitting today so you'll see some nice hits.... However MSU is 6-12 on 3rd down I believe..... Thing is they're completing 3rd and long situations..... so there's alot You'll like and alot that'll make you wanna chuck that tape of yours out the window! GO BUCKS.......

Oh, and something else I forgot. We all know coaches often have situational plays worked out and practiced in advance.

I submit we don't bother with that for 3rd down. Who, on 3rd and long, throws the ball 5-6 yards short of the point of conversion every time we decide to pass? Well we do, that's who.

And another random thought. I sat here with an only slightly amused smile when it was obvious that with a minute left, we were trying to "run" (and I use that term loosely) the clock out, but Smith (edit: John Smith that is) wanted it back to take a shot with even less.

Take off your #10 jersey for just a second and rewind the Tivo. There was no one within 15 yards of Holmes. It was a terrible, terrible pass.

No offense, and I wouldn't have posted if you weren't clearly wrong. But Holmes had a defender a foot or two behind him on that long bomb.
