I don't feel like can add anything to the idea since it might be considered a conflict of interest. It would be cool though and I would contribute. It doesn't sound like it would be expensive or anything. Hubbard already knows what my new sig is gonna be! :wink2:

Hubs I was thinking of something like:

(if there is room start it with "Buckeye Planet") Football Pick 'em Champion

Then under the title have the user name and year they won

'03 BuckNutty
'04 ________
'05 ________ etc.

A plaque might be cheaper and we could prob. get more names, however trophy's seem to be more fun... some type of a wierd item mounted on a base with the names would be cool as well (like the brown jug etc.)... I'm open to what ever, and would throw a few bucks into the pot if we choose to do that... if not that is fine as well...

OR... we could not do a trophy at all, and have C-Dog put under the winners user name "03 football pick 'em champ" and any other things the person wins... basically have the "trophy" on the board for all to look at (heck we could even create a page that has a pic of a trophy and have the winners by year listed... basically have a page for all the winners of the various competitions we brew up... the fantasy football winner could also have the same thing)... I actually like these ideas better than a real trophy, because we wouldn't have to worry about a person losing/breaking the thing, and we could all see who the winners are (call the page "The Hall of Fame Page" or something like that)... if we do that I'm sure we could come up with several games to compete in... just a thought, but I really like the idea... is it possible?

If you read this, you prob. read my post above it... I really thing a seperat "room" entitled "BuckeyePlanet Hall of Fame" would be great... we could then have all the Trophy's pictures and the winners name under it by year... I think it would be really cool.

Also if under the user name if it said '03 FFL Champ, or '03 Pick 'em Champ, etc. that would be cool as well, over the years if somebody kept winning, there could be a problem with space, but until then it would be cool...

But the Hall of Fame listing would be great IMO... I'm repeating myself, think I like the idea...? :tongue2:

I like that idea a lot. Even if we do physical trophies as well. We can definitely do something like that.

Here's a question. Is it worth having a forum dedicated to the various games? FFL, pick'em, March Madness brackets, etc? We could have a permanent announcement in there that has what you're talking about. Pictures of the trophies and notes on who won, how many played, etc. Whatever we wanted. We could also host the program in there that will help automate the games for us. Maybe that's all a waste though, I don't know. As is we almost have more forums than regular users here. :wink: So perhaps adding another one is silly.

Bottom line is that whether it's in a new forum, or its own page on the site, I think that's a great idea.

I'm also open to giving people custom titles for their year long reign. Or at least giving them the option of having a custom title.

That way every time Nutty posts, we can all be reminded of how inadequate the rest of us were with our pick'em picks. :wink: Motivation to take him down next year. And AndyGeorge for FFL. And me for our upcoming Bracket Challenge.

I do like gbear's virtual idea. But the trophy is pretty cool too. I am up for whatever the majority decides

I could put the Buckeye Planet part on the front of it and I know we could fit at least 8 names on the other sides if we do it in that format like you have listed.

I could go for a physical trophy as well, but I think the virtual thing would be great. (I'm looking over my parents dog, and she likes to break things... that got me thinking, if I won (or should I say when I win :tongue2: ) it prob. wouldn't take too long before she broke the trophy.... the virtual trophy is safe, and around for all to see (we could even have a picture of a pile of dog poop for the folks that finish in last place... ie me in the FFL :tongue2: :tongue2: :tongue2: )...

Would anyone be willing to participate in an NFL pick em challenge similar to the one gbear did for NFL games? If so I would be willing to list the games, spreads and keep track of all the results.

Regarding everything else, I'll go with the majority. The Hall of Fame thing definitely sounds cool. The custom title thing sounds cool. Hubbard could use a little motivation :tongue2:

Nutty, what would you like for a title? '03 Pickem Champ? I'm open to just about anything.

Also, I know it's a minor thing, but everyone can test out the reputation system by giving gbear some for his pickem management this season. Go to any of his threads (or multiple depending on how much you want to give) and click on the little icon in the red field above his post. I think it looks like a little grey button with a check and an x in it, and should be next to the one with the exclamation mark.

Click on that, and you give the user a little more rep. As that adds up over time, they get more of those little bullets next to the reputation field, but it also factors in other places. For example, regular users at a certain rep level become mods (whether they like it or not, ha!), mods are a certain level become senior mods. Senior mods at a certain level become admins, and that's when I'll get kicked off the site completely. :wink:

Anyway, I think it would be great if the reputation system was something we all used regularly, or at least when a post really stood out. I think that will be more true if the number of users here ever picks up.

haven't been able to post for awhile. I have to say that I thought I sucked at picking the bowl games this year. And then I came here and saw all the other records. Made me feel better. For now, I am all for more contests like this one. Also, the idea of a "hall of fame" for winners is a great idea (my only suggestion is that you should include the runner-up name also :tongue2: ). As the traffic continues to grow, someday it will have to be discontinued, but I am all for the competion,

Oh crap I forgot too. I think tomorrow I am heading down to the trophy shop and I am goign to grab the one for the pick'em contest. I am up for the other trophies as well? Should I look for a fantasy one while I am there? If so give me some ideas as to what to put on top, like a cup, football or something else. Here is a link to a trophy store, this can give us some ideas for possible trophies and this is by no means a complete list. Also the owner said she could build us a custom one, but I am assuming at higher price. Please help a brother out here, input is needed. For the B-Ball tourney one I liked that bobblehead trophy.
