Game Thread #2 tOSU at #3 Oregon, Sat. Oct. 12, 7:30 pm ET, NBC

Jet lag is much worse when travelling West to East. I don't think it will be a factor in the Buckeyes play. …
I have no idea what causes it, but it seems to me that the Buckeyes have always played poorly on the west coast

More importantly, years of running DSA spreadsheets taught me two things: There is typically a 14 point underperformance (point spread) when any team plays 3 time zones away from home; more when any mainland team plays in Hawai’i; AND Vegas bettors know this.

I have never given a thought as to whether this has anything to do with jet lag. Whatever it is, the effect is real. I might be persuaded to discount my impressions, but the DSA spreadsheets don’t care about impressions

@OregonBuckeye How are the Ducks in the trenches? I've heard questions about the O-line, but I'm more curious on how the D-Line stacks?
From my casual observations, they have a surprising amount of size on that DL. They are quite a bit bigger than MSU and Iowa, so that may take some time to adjust to for our OL. With that said, I'm not impressed with their pass-rush ability. Usually, they have to blitz to generate pressure on the QB. Matayo (DJ's younger brother) is the only DL I've seen get any consistent pressure. Not exactly a hot take, but if we can consistent 4-5 yard rushes early on they are proper fucked.

Weather is beautiful out here in Oregon. Supposed to be in the low 70s and mostly sunny on Saturday, not sure about any winds.

Had a Killer Burger today, it was featured in Campus Eats, LaMarcus James owns one of them, not the one I was at. I had the Jose Mendoza, it was very good, I’m not sure if I’ll try the burger with peanut butter before I head back.

A few things.

Oregon is excessively aggressive on defense. They’re actually extremely aggressive overall. Dan Lanning really is UFM 2.0 in that he loves to play speed and he loves to dial up pressure.

That’s not a great thing though when you’re playing a team like OSU that can hurt you in so many ways. Likewise, the OL for Oregon is their problem area and that’s not exactly good for them considering our DL.

The game really will be about the typical things that it always boils down to on big games. No turnovers, don’t do stupid things on special teams, and run the ball (as well as stop the run).
The game was built and continues to be all about the trenches. Ours is better and our skill is better too. The only thing that could fuck us is piss poor preparation and coaching. Gonna be some Duck Confit for dinner on Saturday night!

I like to think I’m a very open minded person when it comes to food - but peanut butter on a burger just isn’t making sense to me. Not judging and I’d probably even take a bite just to see if it ends making sense but man that one is odd.

If you don't you might regret it. Sounds awful but damned if it isn't near perfect.
