Threebler is a decent comparison. Some differences are: (i) Diebler is about 5 inches taller, which is a significant advantage; (ii) somewhat related to Diebler's length, Gerard will be stronger and stouter coming out of high school than Diebler was; (iii) Gerard is a better ball handler.

Diebler only put up 12 or 13 a game his three good years with the Bucks, though. Is that possibility okay with Girard? That's all I'm saying. Or does he envision himself putting up Fredette's numbers, which were 22 and 28 his better years at BYU? Was Grandstaff (a higher-ranked prospect with more height) a good fit at any big-time program? I'm just saying that gunners are kind of a ?, and this is beyond dictionary definition of a gunner.

Besides, you could argue that Sczerbiak became who he was because of his Miami experience. Would Wally have gained the confidence he gained if he was on a big-time team where he wasn't expected, or even allowed, to carry a team on his back? Playing at a smaller school and having more responsibilities can be more gratifying for some people and actually lead to greater development than otherwise would have happened.

I don't think so. Sczcerbiak was a great player who would have been successful in a bigger conference.
