'16 OH PG Markell Johnson (NC State Signee)

Someone reported he had already done so, but it seems he hasn't reclassified quite yet.

"If he is looking for PT, there is no better place to play his college basketball at The Ohio State University"

Really?
We have 5 starters back, albeit not exactly the 1984 Tarheels.

This is an issue. We need help badly but recruits/tranny's looking for the path of least resistance will take heed.

Our program is showing all the signs trouble and I don't think Thad will be able to fix it.
He has earned enough goodwill to try but I'm not optimistic.

The 3 kids that transferred last week were the 3 of the 4 kids that played with motors and intensity.
So this "cultural" fix notion is gibberish.

This program has no momentum, zero buzz among top recruits and near historically low fan interest.

It would be nice if Thad gave a state of the union address to the public but in a week nobody will care and we won't hear anything until October.

SideBar: I'm opposed to throwing the kids under the bus. These kids were the grinders, Thad recruited them and now there is notion that we should be glad there gone.

Giddens will end up at a program better then ours, Granderson already has and I would expect Harris to end up at some place like X.

Sidebar2: I'm in the camp that we need to teak the staff and S&C program but in reality attracting high calibur assistants is an issue given Thad's long term forecast.
And I have always thought that S&C is a function of how much credence/emphasis the HC places in it.
When Mick was ND their fan base thought he blew goats.
But Urban has made it clear how important it is.

The culture differences between or fb and hoops programs could not be more stark.

OHIO STATE TARGET MARKELL JOHNSON SPEAKS ON POTENTIAL RECLASSIFICATION, WHERE THINGS STAND WITH HIS COMPLICATED RECRUITMENT

Ohio State head coach Thad Matta sat underneath one of the baskets on Court 2 at Jonathan Byrd’s Fieldhouse on Saturday morning to watch the big man for the future of his program.

Matta was almost certainly hoping he saw his future point guard, too.

All-Ohio Red, led by 2017 Buckeyes commit Kaleb Wesson, and King James Shooting Stars, which features top 2017 target Markell Johnson, squared off Saturday in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League — the most competitive AAU circuit in the country — and Matta was not going to miss it. All-Ohio Red and King James are the top two AAU programs in the state, it was almost a no-brainer Matta would be there.

Johnson noticed.

“It’s good knowing that when we play against All-Ohio, they already have an Ohio State commit,” he said. “Me and Kaleb are cool so just seeing Thad there trying to get us together, it’s good.”

don't think this one ends well for OSU. even though we only have 3 guards, I don't think Kell likes the situation he would be coming into with Lyle and CJ here. which is a shame. but at least we will know sooner than later.

A guard from NY that some thought would pick Louisville instead chose UConn a couple days ago, so L'ville still has room. The 247 Director of bball recruiting also just put a crystalball on L'ville in the past hour for Markell.
