'15 OH F Esa Ahmad (West Virginia signee)

to be honest, i'm not sure what to expect from mitchell. ahmad, on the other hand, looks like seasons full of statistics. i think he's a necessary insurance policy regardless of position traffic.
Mitchell might very well be Sam Thompson redux. Plenty of SportsCenter highlights, regardless of his statistical production. I agree, I'd like to see Ahmad on the squad; he seems to have a great head for the game.

Unless Ohio State is his dream school, I don't know how he will even consider becoming a Buckeye when Matta and company are so late coming to the party! How does this kid still not have an offer?!

I think the staff have been waiting on Bragg. IMO, I think the coaches have stayed in touch with Ahmad throughout the process and kept the young man in the loop with what has been going on. If he is coming down on his on dime for an unofficial, It would not surprise me he gets an offer from Thad himself. I hope he gets that offer and commits on the spot.

It's been very quiet in both football and basketball for while now. Maybe this gets the ball rolling for both sports.

because bragg received the offer as an in-state player at the same position while being considered a superior player to ahmad by pretty much everyone.

i doubt any coach in matta's spot would have offered ahmad without first giving bragg plenty of time to decide or, more importantly, giving himself (the coach, that is) plenty of time to recruit bragg as "the" in-state player of need.

Regarding his play in Sacramento
"I thought I played great," Ahmad said. "Coaches love my versatility and how hard I play. I've basically been playing guard, and I'm just trying to make the right play with the ball."

In his team's three games there, Ahmad averaged 13.3 points and 9.7 rebounds, while shooting 50 percent from the field. Since he returned to Ohio, the Shaker Heights forward has already picked up two more offers -- Penn State and Texas Tech.
Esa Ahmad heads to Ohio State for unofficial basketball visit Thursday after live NCAA scouting period (poll)

From what I've seen of Mitchell prior to the injury he is a highly skilled and versatile player. With all due respect to Sam Thompson, Mitchell is no Sam Thompson.
