'15 OH F Esa Ahmad (West Virginia signee)

ll Ohio Red 16U has several intriguing prospects. One of them is 6?7? combo forward Esa Ahmad.
The young forward has a strong upper body and wide shoulders. He is a great finisher around the hoop. This 2015 prospect is active around the basket and showed quick and aggressive post moves. Ahmad also stepped out to knock down a couple face up jumpers. He rebounded at a good clip in their play at the NY2LA Swish N Dish. The sophomore further discussed his game.

?I think I am very versatile. I like to get myself going in the post. Then work my way out.?

As a sophomore he averaged 21.5 points and 9 rebounds per game at Shaker Heights High School .

?We had a great season going 20-7 and making it to the regional finals.?

He is ready for a big summer with All Ohio Red.

?I am looking to have fun and win a lot of tournaments.?

Ahmad broke down where he currently holds offers from.

?I have offers from the Miami Hurricanes, Dayton, Xavier, Cleveland State, and Wright State.?

He is also hearing from several other top programs in the Midwest .

?Ohio State, Michigan, West Virginia, and Illinois.?

Illinois is showing interest in the young forward and assistant Dustin Ford has been out to see him play.

?He is a good guy and a great coach. He shows me a lot of love.?

What does he like about the Illini?

?I like the way they play. They play hard. I love their system.?

Ahmad said Michigan is another school that stands out to him right now. What will he look for in a college program down the road?

?A place I feel is family to me. Where I am comfortable and where I can play my game.?

Esa's coach says Maryland has been to several of his games...his coach has strongly urged him to visit Maryland...Louisville is supposedly very close to offering...schools involved right now include Louisville, WVU, Iowa, Rutgers, Clemson, Xavier and Maryland.

Why has Matta not offered this kid yet? How long before the ship sails on this one? I think the Buckeyes should focus more on the in state talent in the next few years because Ohio is loaded right now, but they seem to be more focused on kids that in the long run they are not going to get from out of state.
