'14 MI DE Lawrence Marshall (Michigan Verbal)

With limited scholarships and the way Urban recruits, he's not going to recruit you hard and accept a committment from you just because you are from a particular state. He's going to recruit you because you are the best of the best, you are going to contribute to this team, and you are going to help us win national championships, no matter where you live in the country. Period.

I love Dantonio and what he did for our university, but what he hinted at to Marshall was a thinly-veiled lie.

From what I've read, we discontinued pursuit of Lawrence after his de-commit.

I'd be surprised if that were true. Urbs has shown that he'll go after anyone, committed, de-committed, and uncommitted. So I doubt we stopped pursuing someone that we wanted two months ago.

I take it to mean that Urban probably had other recruits in mind..

edit: Stopping pursuit likely didn't have anything to do with the decommitment...

As I said, from what I read... coming from insiders in the know. No articles to quote. But once he decided to commit and then back out, Coaches moved on to other options. He's not exactly a must have 5 star that you hold a space for...

That's not true. Scout rates him higher than ESPN.

Honestly can't even tell where Scout ranks him other than as the #12 DE.

But the Wilton Speight ESPN ranking is a dead give away of the agenda. They snuck a bunch of Michigan commits in the 100-150 range just like last year to make it seem like they're running circles in recruiting.

I don't trust ESPN myself. I use the 247 composite rankings because they combine all 4 sites. Gives a much better snapshot. I'm just saying, it isn't just ESPN who has Marshall up high. Scout has him 89th overall.

Not to...:horse: , But seeing him compete in person I was disappointed at how unrefined his pass rush moves were, and in primetime got stonewalled by an 8th Grader (Imani Mason 6'3 275, My own player), thats never a good sign.
