Carmel High School senior receiver Austin Roberts hasn?t narrowed his college list yet. But there are four schools that might be a little ahead. Those four are University of Miami, Florida, Ohio State and USC.
?Those are the schools that I?ve had the best relationship with at this point,? Roberts said. ?But nobody has been ruled out.?
Roberts? father Alfredo Roberts, the Indianapolis Colts? tight ends coach, was a member of two national championship teams at Miami, the second one under then-coach Jimmy Johnson. The elder Roberts later played for two Super Bowl champions with Dallas under Johnson.
Roberts will be competing in The Opening in Beaverton, Ore., June 30 through July 3. After that, Roberts will take a visit to USC. His only other visit came as a freshman before he was being recruited. Roberts is considering a career in broadcasting.
?So when USC offered, that caught my eye,? Roberts said. ?They?re in the heart of LA. A lot of the alumni have something to do with Hollywood. If I want something to do in broadcasting, that might be where I need to be.?
USC?s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism is considered a top-ranked broadcasting school by U.S. News & World Report and other ranking organizations to be one of the best nationally.
Among Roberts? other 21 offers are Alabama, Florida State, Indiana, Purdue and Stanford.
