Urban Meyer and his coaching staff have entered the game in the pursuit of coveted receiver Ra?Shaad Samples (Dallas/Skyline).

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound receiver said he had a chance to speak with the respected Ohio State coach and was offered a scholarship late Wednesday morning. Samples now has more than 20 offers, including scholarship opportunities from Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, California, UCLA and Notre Dame.

"[Talking to Meyer] was cool. He's a real dude," Samples said. "He tells you how he feels and how it is. It was exciting to hear from him."

Samples had 65 catches for 1,369 yards and 19 touchdowns during the 2011 season. He was a team leader in every receiving category, including average yards per catch (21).

This school produces ballers every year. It'd be gigantic if we were to make headway into skyline. Luckily they're not a pipeline for any one school and their kids are open to playing anywhere in the nation

Watch List WR Samples out 3-4 months

Dallas Skyline ESPNU Watch List wide receiver Ra'Shaad Samples said Monday that he suffered a small fracture in his left fibula during a one-on-one drill at Sunday’s Nike Football Training Camp at the Dallas Cowboys practice facility in Irving, Texas.

Samples, a 2013 Under Armour All-American, said doctors found a small break and a stretch of his tibia but found no ligament damage. He is expected to miss 3-4 months, but took consolation in the fact his ligaments were in good shape. Ligament damage could have put him out for an extended period and was speculated to jeopardize a portion of his senior year.

“I’m doing all right,” Samples said. “I left the doctor’s office with a cast on. I won’t have to get a plate or anything. I plan to start rehab in about four or five weeks.”
