'12 VA ATH Joel Caleb (Virginia Tech Signee)

Richmond Times-Dispatch - Caleb won't announce until signing day

1/6

Clover Hill quarterback Joel Caleb (6-foot-3, 205 pounds) said he will wait until signing day to make his college decision.

Regarded as one of the top recruits in the state of Virginia, Caleb amassed more than 30 scholarship offers. He whittled them down to four finalists: Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Georgia and Ohio State.

Caleb, who could play wide receiver or defensive back in college, is at the Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio. But he will not play in Saturday's game because he continues to recover from a torn meniscus suffered during the summer.

From the Virginia Tech front.....we are hearing that you guys are the leaders in the club house right now for Caleb. I believe Urban is using our offensive incompetency against us which to be honest, I can't blame him

Rumor is that Meyer is slow playing Caleb to see what Diggs does...If Meyer takes too long then he is yours...

With that idea in mind, you'd think that moving his announcement back to signing day is a sign that he might be willing to wait on Ohio State's slow play.

thekeyplay.com - the Shane Beamer effect

1/9

With Urban Meyer supposedly planning to wreak havoc on MD/DC/VA recruiting in the coming years, I'd say that Shane Beamer's clout as a recruiter is first being put to the test with the recruitment of Joel Caleb. Beamer has been recruiting his first big name heavily and it seems like a huge tug-of-war between us and Ohio State.

I'm pulling for Shane but good or bad, where Joel Caleb goes may be a sign of things to come regarding VT recruiting.
