Again, if I had my pick of the LBs currently on the booard, I would take Santos and Williams...and keep in mind I love Marcus...

Wow, strong statement. Marcus, for me, is my favorite. Followed by Santos, Williams, and then Perkins in that order.

Is it just me or is 2012 one of the deepest defensive classes in a looong time?

I am still amazed at the kids he is able to get a visit from this late in the recruiting game.. I seriously cannot believe what I am seeing.. I never remember getting these kind of players to visit.. It is fun to watch!!!

He has a Director of Player personnel. This is a new twist at OSU.

Re: "People on the outside don't know what it's like when you've got coaches running through your house every day," said Santos, the nation's top inside linebacker who is committed to Tennessee. "They're telling you that you can have everything you want. Coaches say you can live the easy life."

Santos said he knows there's nothing easy about life as a college football player.

"The more you talk to them, the more you start to figure it out," Santos said. "This guy is acting fake. That's not who he really is. Don't let anybody lie to you. The main thing to remember as a recruit is that you're just another piece of meat."

"When you come down to it as a player, I've got to think about what's going to be best for me," Santos said. "Ten years down the road, what school can help me take care of my kids and my family?

"That's what I want to know."

Sounds like a pretty savvy football player that has "his head screwed on straight". I like him.

somebody help me out here. Why such a need for a LB? We have Curtis Grant waiting for his shot, the No. 1 LB prospect last year. Is Curtis not panning out?

Sabino and Klein looked awful and got more playing time that Curtis, but that doesnt necessarily mean Curtis cant get the job done. Afterall, this was the same coaching staff that took forever to start Braxton and Shazier...

Heading into next season we will have one above average LB on this team and it's Shazier. Curtis Grant hopefully will be a star, but he hasn't proven anything to date. Sabino and Klein have played mediocre at best when given the opportunity this season. After that, we have nobody waiting in the wings (Crowell coming off a major injury).

We need LBs badly. Even if you believe Grant will step in and be great next season, and Sabino/Klein can be adequate, where does that leave you in 2013.. With Shazier and Grant? That's not enough playmaking talent.

I was talking to an Under Armour employee at the Gator Bowl who was doing some of the outfitting at the UAAAG. He said that he was able to see some of the practices, so I asked him about Spence. He said something to the tune of, "Yeah that kid is pretty good, but this Santos kid is UNSTOPPABLE." I asked him about some of the other players, but the conversation kept coming back to Santos, and this was before we knew that he was even taking a visit to OSU. Long story short, I want this kid.

Its you! Its just that now we have a coach with the guts to go after all these top players nationally, and he's just getting started :wink2:
