That's kind of surprising. I thought he would be the one left without a scholarship due to the many talented D-ends that Ohio is producing in 2012 and the limited scholarships.

They are probably letting everyone know that the offers are conditional, conditional on the fact that if they wait too long there may not be room anymore.

Lewis said his top five schools are Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Alabama, Ohio State and Oregon.

''It is flattering, of course, but I know our main focus is winning here right now,'' said Lewis, who is 6-foot-4, 230 pounds and listed speed as his best trait.

''I know Greg probably too good. That is my boy . . . we talk about [our futures]. It would be ideal for us to go to the same school and play together. We would love to keep playing together.''

Hoban coach Ralph Orsini said McMullen started as a freshman, and Lewis also contributed in a reserve role as a freshman.

''First of all, Greg and LaTroy both have God-given ability to play,'' Orsini said. ''Each one is unique. Greg is a little more powerful and stronger. LaTroy has outstanding quickness and speed.

''They each pursue the ball from the start of the play to the end of the play.''

Don't forget that Josh Perry could grow into a LEO too...

With Lewis and Pittman also fitting that role, it's something to consider when seeing Lewis get his offer before Pittman...

I think McMullen grows into a DT, and Wormley could also end up a DE/DT type.

So with that said, I wouldn't be shocked to see them bring in a DL class of McMullen, Lewis, Washington, Pittman and Wormley (should he end up picking the Bucks over Michigan).

I was just thinking, how many of the at least six talented instate DEs could play DT or linebacker at the college level? I know how MililaniBuckeye loves off topic discussions about recruits playing other position. It seems the trend in the NFL is to draft college DEs like Vernon Golston and try to turn them into 3-4 type line backers.

If LaTroy has a "committable" offer from the Buckeyes, I would suggest he takes it at his earliest possible opportunity. The state of Ohio is stacked with quality DEs for next year's recruiting class. This is only taking into consideration, the recruits the staff is already aware of. Who knows what late bloomers will show up at camp in June, or have great senior seasons.
