RECRUITING NEWS
Hoban (Akron) junior defensive linemen Latroy Lewis and Greg McMullen will begin to narrow their college list after the new year, coach Ralph Orsini told the Akron Beacon Journal. Orsini said that Ohio State is in the top two for both players. ?

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- On Sunday the Under Armour All-American combine for juniors and sophomores attracted a good group of prospects from Big Ten country.
The group was led by a talented contingent of Ohio underclassmen including two of the top 10 junior prospects in the Buckeye State, defensive ends Adolphus Washington (Cincinnati, Ohio/Taft) and LaTroy Lewis (Akron, Ohio/Hoban).
The 6-4, 230-pound Lewis, who showed very good speed and the ability to change directions well, has offers from Ohio State and Cincinnati with more sure to follow.
A passionate, pointed story told to his teammates by junior center LaTroy Lews helped the Hoban boys basketball team to get its season turned around with a win over Cleveland Central Catholic.

T.K. Griffith has coached the Hoban boys basketball team for 18 years, and as evidenced by his 260-124 career record, he?s done an outstanding job.
But sometimes, even the best coaches have to stand back for a moment and let nature - or fate or whatever - take its course.
The Knights had started this season in very un-Hoban fashion, going 1-2 with an opening 53-31 victory over Cleveland Rhodes and then suffering one-sided losses to cross-town rival St. Vincent-St. Mary (73-47) and Mentor Lake Catholic (69-52).
"Our next game was against another very good team in Cleveland Central Catholic," Griffith said. "We were looking 1-3 right in the eye. We knew we couldn't lose another one to get to 1-3, because it's real hard to come back from that point. You have to win a lot of games in a row to have a good record."
Yes, at 1-3, a high school boys basketball team, in a regular season that's just 20 games, has done a good job of burying itself, and, as it turns out, that's the theme of what happened to turn Hoban?s season around.
"We (the coaches) walked into the locker room just before the game with Cleveland Central Catholic, and there was one of our players, LaTroy Lewis, standing in front of the other guys and giving a real emotional talk," Griffith said of his 6-foot-4 junior center who also plays football and is being looked at by Ohio State. "He was reciting a story that he had found about how you have to keep digging in life because the treasure that you're looking for may be just one more shovelful of dirt away."

By Webb...offered by UM three weeks ago...dad is a UM alum and was happy about the offer...top six of Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Florida, USC and Cincinnati (UM, OSU and UC have offered).
Lewis, Hoban junior defensive end, on the resignation:
''I was like wow. I expected him to have some consequences, but I didn't think he'd resign. They're rules set by the NCAA and to be on any team you have to follow the rules. Tressel may not have caused the problem, but he covered it up. A rule is a rule.''
Lewis on how the resignation affects his decision:
''My decision won't be based on who I'm playing for as far as the coach. I'm not really into following coaches. It will be based on the people around the program, the players, the university itself.''
