could Dymonte Thomas fit the bill ?

If so, it would be comical to see Meyer flip him to the good guys and watch Michigan fans blow a fuse

I think Jalin Marshall and Foster fit the bill. Marshall is announcing soon and appears to be OSU bound (good chance). Foster is a superb athlete as well and isn't an OSU lock like Marshall but I think it is between OSU and Pitt at this point.

Completely understand the level of excitement over the '13 guys, but I don't think the impact of getting an elusive playmaker like Neal in Urban's system as a frosh and letting him develop at this point can be underestimated. With talk of Urban and Mariotti already drastically changing the training regimens I think it's pretty important to him to get a young guy in that can spend (hopefully) the next four years in his system and training programs.

No disrespect to the guys we already have there, but our return game could really use some improvements immediately. Hall just doesn't seem to have the instincts for the return. Game after game he seems indecisive on whether to call for a fair catch or not and whether or not to let the ball go or to field it.

Caleb Day could too...

Sit tight with this one. It will be interesting over the next few weeks...

I too want Neal very badly. However, here is the argument that I try to hold onto to keep me sane.

Hall was the 41st ranked FBS punt returner last year, sixth in the big 10. However, he was the fifth ranked running back who was serving as a punt returner, and he is no scat back. Having that person in your offensive backfield is good. Also, he should move up in the stats next year as a senior and with Urban coaching special teams. Obviously punt returners can catch the ball, so Meyer can throw him the ball too.

Also, BP says that Carlos Hyde is the fastest tOSU running back in the 40:
http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/buckeye-football/606022-rb-carlos-hyde-official-thread-54.html

So it seems that the situation is not a disaster.

I like how Ed Warinner put it in:
http://www.the-ozone.net/recruiting/2011_12/oconnercommit.html

The guys who are here are the guys that are here. We're going to be in on as many talented players as we can in this freshman class. How much can they contribute, we hope that they can contribute some. But we're going to work with the guys that we have.

Dymonte is explosive. Not straight line fast but gets to top speed quick and crazy agility. He could play offense or corner/safety.
We'll load up on that area in 2013, Urban's mind seems to be on Foster right now and wouldn't bet against him, should get at least 1 of Foster/Gibson to go with Marshall.

Badly want Neal as well.

Even the bleacher report says Neal could be the next Percy Harvin:

Neal has been blessed with game-changing, lightning-quick speed, and there are very few players at the college level who will be able to beat the 5'10'', 175-pound speedster in a foot race. .... The Arizona native would be an effective playmaker on either side of the ball at either wide receiver or cornerback, and he also adds value as a dangerous return man ... If he ends up with the Buckeyes, it wouldn't be surprising to see him fill a Percy Harvin-type of role in Urban Meyer's spread offense.

@Maximumblitz- I completely agree with your assessment at running back and feel very comfortable with Hyde and Hall in the backfield with Meyer coaching them up. Like I said I'd love for us to get somebody back to return punts with a little more decisiveness than Hall and honestly I've never been a huge fan of having to run your number one running back as returner because the high injury risk you run in the return game. So while you're right and that does keep me sane, as do the '13 prospects, I still am eager to see Urban get some speed.

Funny side-note a friend of mine from Florida was at a UF camp and Urban actually used to grow tired of Harvin/Rainey/Demps constantly bickering about who was faster so one day Meyer finally told all three to line up on the goalline and race to the opposite endzone and from his vantage point he said the three were so close to each other you honestly would've had to have taken a photo to figure out who won.

Alright, I will try to help you out and make my best pitch and lay it on the line.

With schools like Arkansas, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Ohio State all chasing him [editors note: and Zona], it should be interesting to see which school Neal ultimately chooses.
We hired the NC coach. We hired 2 ND coaches and took 2 of their players. We beat Arkansas last year in their own backyard (and no, a couple of economically obtained tattoos were not the key to our victory). tOSU got Richrod fired by beating him every time that he played us, and the last I previously heard from my brother in Naples, Richrod was living there in retirement, helping out the local high school. Richrod tried to outpractice us, but it did not work. We let Neal be the ball boy at the 2002 national championship. We hired the best coach in the land. Immediate playing time is available. Neal was born here. tOSU will have a defense that will get him the ball back real quick each time he scores.

It is clear: the ship has sailed. Neal has no choice. His destiny is tOSU.

This. May be the greatest recruiting pitch I've ever heard. Can only imagine what is going on in the proverbial workout center....
