'11 PA TE Ben Koyack (Notre Dame Signee)

The Derrick
Junior Ben Koyack continues to assault the OC record book as he claimed sole possession of the mark for career touchdown receptions with his 14th on a 25-yard pass from Mark Kulinski. His total of four catches for 70 yards hiked his career mark to 1,131 and set the career receiving yardage record. Both the career TD and yardage records were previously held by Brendan Brown.

Koyack, who has 13 catches for 319 yards this season, is four receptions away from eclipsing Brown's record of 65 career receptions

Missed opportunities cost OIlers against Sharon

Missed opportunities cost OIlers against Sharon

Oil City football coach Matt LaVerde lamented Thursday's 34-21 loss to Sharon was a "game of missed opportunities."

. . .

Four running plays followed for a first down at the 4-yard line before Kulinski lofted a fade pass to Koyack for the touchdown with 10.1 seconds left before intermission. Klena's kick narrow the gap to 21-14.

. . .

Post-game notes -- Ben Koyack broke Brendan Brown's school record for career catches. The junior TE has 69; Brown caught 65 passes from 1990-91

Rivals$ (PSU)--A few standing out for Koyack

Ben has a top five (in order) of Ohio State, Penn State ,West Virginia, Notre Dame and Pitt. He wants to commit before his senior year.

In order? Nice. He would be a huge commitment. Not a ton of depth at TE and Koyack seems like a bigtime guy who could come in and play right away. He could be catching passes from Terrelle Pryor as a true freshman.

Oilers drill Knights, 49-7

By CRAIG PHILLIPS
The Derrick/The News-Herald

Often times, the final score isn?t indicative of the play on the field. In Oil City?s 49-7 victory over Franklin on Friday at the Oil Field, the margin of victory was accurate.
. . .
However, the Knights hung with the Oilers until OC scored on a eight-play, 82-yard drive that was capped by a 42-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Stephen May to Ben Koyack.

Koyack caught the ball in the right hook zone, made a move on a defender and bolted for the score, which gave the Oilers a 6-0 with 2:43 left in the first quarter.
. . .
A pair of penalties moved the ball back to the Knight 28 where Cody Johnson picked up 15 yards off left tackle before Kulinski hit Koyack on a fade route for a 15-yard touchdown. The conversion attempt was botched, but the Oilers led 18-0 with 8:51 left before halftime.
. . .
Oil City answered with a seven-play, 69-yard march which was culminated in Koyack?s third touchdown catch of the first half and seventh of the season.

RUSSELL ? It was a no-brainer.

Oil City, faced with a fourth down at the 1-yard line in overtime, handed the ball to fullback Logan Carson and the senior smashed into the end zone behind the left side of his line for the winning touchdown in the Oilers? 12-6 win over homestanding Eisenhower.

The Oilers, who played without tight end Ben Koyack, improved to 6-2 with the nonregion win while the Knights dropped to 3-5.
