#11 Ohio State vs. #3 Houston, Sunday, March 24, 8:40PM, TNT

The most threes a single player has taken against Ohio State was Jordan Poole’s 10 in the Wolverines’ home victory this season. Poole only made three. Corey Davis Jr. was far more prolific with 17 attempts for Houston Friday in the rout of Georgia State.

Davis Jr. is more than just a standstill shooter. But Ohio State assistant coach Ryan Pedon that the goal is to limit opportunities as much as possible. The fewer looks, the better.

“As a shooter, if he gets off 17 threes that means we’re not doing our job,” Pedon said. “We want to be more detailed, hopefully, than the team was last night in terms of not letting him get to his spots.”

Jallow stated that he’d live with a guy taking 17 threes in one game if he only made two of them.
It’s easy to say that Woods is the type of player who lives for the big stage, but a better description might be he’s a player who knows his time has run out.

“For all seniors, you see the light at the end of the tunnel,” Pedon said. “That can affect different guys in different ways. For him that probably brought forth a sense of urgency. You would hope that with older guys when they get into these situations it would call on their best. I think what you’re seeing here is what Keyshawn can be. He’s playing his best basketball at the right time.”

Ohio State will need Woods in this form if it hopes to continue its season. He’s faced Houston before during his time at Wake Forest. He scored 15 points in a loss last season.
Only five teams have reached 70 points on Houston this season. The Buckeyes have reached the 70-point mark 10 times, twice in the Big Ten tournament.

“They’re as tough and tough-minded as any team we’ve played all year,” Holtmann said of the Cougars. “That’s who they are. They play with an edge and (they’re) hungry all the time.”

The starting backcourt for Houston hold their individual assignments to an average of 40 percent shooting. The only other defender of that caliber the Buckeyes have faced this season is Zavier Simpson of Michigan. That game resulted in a season-low 49 points for Ohio State as Simpson registered a triple-double.

IIRC, this is OSU's first game against a Kelvin Sampson-led team since 2008, which also happened to be when Eric Gordon played his lone college game at the Schott.

OSU last faced Houston in the first year of Thad Matta, 2004-05, in Kansas City as a part of a two-game tournament, a game the Buckeyes won.
So the last meeting between these two schools was in Kansas City, and at long last they are meeting again to decide who gets a trip to Kansas City for the Sweet 16.
