'11 OH LB Jarrett Grace (Notre Dame Signee)

I know this will sound like a bad comment but one thing that stands out to me about his offer list is that there is no:

Bama
OSU
FL
TX
USC

Those 5 teams have dominated CFB for the last x amount of years. If anything, it appears that FL, Bama, USC, and OSU are targeting some of the same kids so I could see him getting an offer after one of the big dogs on the board gives a verbal to another school.

Personally, I like Grace a ton and really hopes he ends up in this class. But I'm not going to get upset just yet when his offers are all programs in need of talent because of coaching changes (TN, ND, Michigan) or lower level schools like BC, UK, Cincy and MSU.

IMO, he is a kid who could just blow up after about 3 games this year and the new tape hits the staff.

Thanks for the candid response. No doubt Jarrett is a talented, hard working kid. And his offer list, while i would argue is not elite/overwhelming yet, is impressive.

It really seems like a year that tOSU might only take 1-2 LB's. Its hard to argue with the offers to DePriest and Vaughters.

Guys like Caputo and Crowell might be offers that are of the same ilk as Jarrett and might make you question why he hasn't gotten his yet. With those two though, there's seems to be a smaller frame/more quickness, whereas Jarrett projects as a bigger LB, possible DE slide down even.

I understand where you are coming from being close to the situation, but I just personally don't think the staff is off in the methodology at this point in early Spring. If Jarret is of the mind to 'dance' with those that have shown interest from the beginning, its understandable and I certainly would wish him the best where ever he goes.

I also get your frustration with the idea that some people on message boards will hit the whole 'cincitucky' slight, claim he was a Cincinnati boy destined for ND, or claim he wasn't tOSU caliber, but that is out of yours and any of our control. People say what they want to say, moreso on the internet, and all you can really do is just let the chips fall......

I can not speak for the Grace family, nor would I...my frustration is simply that he's an Ohio kid with offers from every major conference and many major programs...except his in state school that he wants an offer from. Its not like he's a 1 star recruit with bad grades. He's an honor student who wants to be a surgeon in the future and will grade between 4 or 5 stars. I guess it just sucks that it comes down to a numbers game and OSU can't use a player like that...and you KNOW the fanbase is going to crack on Cincinnati/southwest Ohio when he goes to Michigan (will offer soon, I hear) or Notre Dame as 'we can't recruit or never get kids from down there'...in this case that would be a flat out lie...OSU just didn't want him.

Yes, I am frustrated, personally by the lack of attention from OSU. Fortunately, Grace has higher character than I do and he is not letting it bother him.

It could also be that the Colerain kids just haven't panned out thus far (C. Smith and E. Clifford). The verdict on Moeller is still out there.

Again just an observation. I do not mean to criticize this kid or make the assumption that he is not a buckeye caliber kid.

I don't think what other kids have or haven't done has anything to do with this kid and not getting an offer. Probably has a lot more to do with A. We are already loaded at LB and are only going after elite LBs B. Even if this kid outgrows LB and moves to the DL, we already have a pretty stellar DL class, and Grace just isn't that high on the coaches list. Maybe if some of the other kids didn't commit and/or committed somewhere else, then Grace would get more of a look.

Glad to see Grace end up at ND if not at OSU. Now that Weis and Clausen are gone and Kelly is there, I can go back to being a wishy-washy ND supporter. Best of luck to Jarrett at ND, he'll be in a good situation there.
