'11 OH LB Jarrett Grace (Notre Dame Signee)

I wonder what OSU sees or doesn't see in Grace that has kept them from offering at this point?
I know they told him they were waiting til March to evaluate the Junior class, yet has made several other offers to 11 kids.

curious...?

Well, not a knock on Grace at all, but usually the staff extends out offers to what they deem to be "no brainers" early on, then turn their focus to other OSU calibur players come spring time.

not surprising that they are taking their time with Grace so far considering his position is one that they already have 2 verbals in (if they want him as a DE), or is one that they have offers out to 4 big time prospects (DePriest, Vaughters, Thomas, and Caputo) if they want him as a linebacker.

Scout $ - ?I Won?t Be Waiting That Long?
By Allen Wallace
Posted Feb 15, 2010

Cincy was his first offer & he's been impressed with the new staff... He likes the LB tradition & proximity of OSU but distance won't be a big factor... Junior day visits are in the works for Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Notre Dame, West Virginia... 'Bama is coming on & he followed Florida State as a kid... He's not in a rush but doubts he'll wait until signing day to decide...

Grace talks about his feelings towards Cincinnati & several of the schools that have offered... Talks about his family & his uncle who played TE for _ichigan (Eric Kattus)... He's being recruited mainly as a MLB (started there all 4 yrs of HS) but some are talking about DE... No leader, no time table...

Scout $ - Four-star has UK offer, along with others
Brian Eldridge of KentuckySportsReport.com, Feb 22, 2010

Grace has a 4.0 GPA & is #4 in his class academically while taking AP & honors courses... He's being recruited at MLB & DE but his coache thinks he'd make a pretty good TE too... He's interested in UK & thinking about taking a visit once basketball is over... No leader, no time table...

Talks about his passion for the game & how it's similar to Fitzgeralds... Grace loves his drive & what he's done with the program... Academically, he has a lot of respect for their standing & feels he'd be a good fit... He's also looking for a family feel & a program that combines athletics & academics well... Hopes to narrow his list by fall & commit shortly after the season...

Been away for awhile. Good to be back.

What is the consensus here, Buckeye fans...?
Does Grace eventually get an offer or are the numbers just not right this year and he gets left out in the cold despite his already impressive offer sheet?

I'd like to hear what you think about him as a possible tight end.

I think it depends. Obviously Grace is a good player but I would think the staff will wait for camp evaluations at least. We already have 2 stellar DE's. More importantly, there are tons of offers out to similar prospects. Lawrence Thomas is a phenom (though heavy MSU lean unfortunately), Aaron Lynch seems able to be a similar player, Vaughters is a big bodied prospect that could play LEO, Jeoffrey Pagan (not sure what our odds are, likely not good), Anthony Chickillo (almost no chance likely), and Ryan Shazier (we look to be in decent shape). Farris could be looked at as a DE and Rock has no offer yet still. Aside from maybe Lynch, I don't see us landing any of them but there is still Tank Sturdivant with no offer, whom I don't see OSU passing on. Whether Grace would play inside, DE or a combo, there seem to be guys higher on the boards. If he is willing to wait, my suspicion is the majority of those guys will head elsewhere and he may get an offer.
