'10 OH RB Erick Howard (Ohio U Walk-On)

We are going to be out of the Shotgun a majority of the time next season and as long as Terrelle is here.

That may be true, but by the time Howard would get here, TP would be a junior. Even if TP stays all 4 years, I really doubt playing time would be available at RB that early given the recent recruiting class.

I also think that people are assuming that we are going to exclusively run the spread next year. I'll believe it when I see it.

I looked on Scout and didn't see anything. He speak highly of another program or badly about ours?
We gave a pretty detailed update on Howard in our Top Prospects article:

Erick Howard, North Canton Hoover (5' 10", 210 lbs); Ohio State (not offered) leads. As a junior, Erick Howard was named Mr. Football in the State of Ohio after he rushed for 2,387 yards and scored 31 touchdowns in leading Hoover to the state semi-finals. Obviously, talent is not an issue for Mr. Howard ... and neither is love for Ohio State ... but academics and other off-the-field issues are a major concern at this stage of the recruiting process. If Erick can get his house in order, then look for a quick Buckeye offer, and an equally quick commitment. If not, then Cincinnati (offered) might be the team to beat.
You might want to read our articles closely, because we try to provide accurate and unbiased information on the recruits - where they are leaning, what issues they have, etc.

My apologies. I had read the article and repped it as well. Great stuff! Remind me not to post so late

Anyways, Howard's tape looks impressive, nice power, speed and quickness. I hope he gets his act together and receives an offer.

OSU LOOKING AT HOWARD

Tressel is surely considering Hoover running back Erick Howard, the reigning Mr. Football, as a member of the 2010 recruiting class. Howard has the physical tools to play at Ohio State. It?s going to come down to test scores and grades, both of which Howard has worked to improve a great deal in the last year.

Speaking of Mr. Football, wouldn?t it be something if Stark County had Mr. Basketball this year, too? GlenOak senior C.J. McCollum is a viable candidate for the award, which will be announced in Thursday?s edition

College Football Recruiting On the Trail 2010 - ESPN

Ohio's Mr. Football wants to be a Buckeye
Running back Erick Howard told affiliate Web site Bucknuts.com, "I went down there and got a tour of the school, the campus, the locker room and the weight room. I met with Jim Tressel and Doc Tressel. The visit completely changed my thinking. It was all amazing. Ohio State is where I need and want to be."

However, the Hoover, Ohio junior is not currently holding an Ohio State offer. Illinois, Cincinnati, Colorado, Akron and Ohio University have offered.

"I'm keeping my options open, but I'm trying to push towards Ohio State," Howard concluded."

Last fall he carried 404 times for 2,387 yards (5.9 average) and 31 touchdowns. Howard earned an Ohio Division I selection to go along with his Mr. Football accolade.
