Like I said, the only way his parents let him go away to OHA was because they know he's coming back for college...

He really wants to be UD's first McD's AA and play in Cbus in '10... He felt like this was a good way to accomplish that...

Also, he will sign during the early period which will be before he even plays 5 games at Oak Hill...

So rest easy Flyer fans... :)

for some reason i won't rest until the LOI is in.....its not often UD is in a position to land a kid like this.

Is Ohio State recruit trying to get Staten to ?de-commit? to UD?

Juwan Staten

Word is that Ohio State continues ? covertly and overtly ? to recruit Juwan Staten, who has verbally committed to the University of Dayton for the 2010 - 2011 season.

Other schools are still trying to lure Staten away from the Flyers as well, but none more so than OSU, which according to ESPNU already has the top recruiting class in the nation for 2010.

One of those future Bucks, 6-foot-9, 262-pound Columbus Northland senior Jared Sullinger ? Ohio?s Mr. Basketball last season and ESPNU?s No. 4 college prospect in the nation ? plays with Staten this summer on their Ohio All Red team, one of the best AAU teams in the nation.

All-Ohio Red just won the Nike Peach Jam U-17 championship in Augusta , Ga. by defeating the Philadelphia/South Jersey based Team Final, 62-53. Sullinger had 19 points and 21 rebounds. Staten had 13 points.

Sullinger is regularly in Staten?s ear trying to get him to ?de-commit to UD and come to Ohio State? said one person close to the situation. He?s really trying to get him to back out of his Dayton agreement and become a Buckeye.

Juwan Staten leaving UD, says program didn't fit his talents

Juwan Staten led the Atlantic 10 in assists, made the league?s all-rookie team and played an important role in helping the University of Dayton basketball team reach its fourth straight postseason tournament.

But the freshman point guard from Dayton confirmed late Monday night that he plans to transfer, saying the program isn?t the right fit for his all-around skills.

?I like coach (Brian) Gregory as a person. I respect him. But I just don?t feel like I got any better this year,? Staten said. ?I don?t feel like I could reach my full potential if I stayed at Dayton.

i wonder how staten feels about seeing a freshman point guard lead the #1 buckeyes to a possible national championship. i doubt that he would have gotten as many minutes as craft has, but juwan definitely would have gotten ample minutes.

So where does Staten end up? He said he was transfering, then Greggory jumps ship to Georgia Tech. Does he reconsider?

I say probably not. A lot of bridges were burned with Staten's immaturity and his meddling father.

Staten picks Penn State
April 22, 2011
Juwan Staten has chosen Penn State to continue his college basketball career.

Staten, a Dayton native who played his freshman season at the University of Dayton, announced shortly after the season and before the Flyers' coaching change that he would be leaving the program.

He announced he had chosen Penn State on his Facebook and Twitter accounts Thursday night.

Landing Staten, who played at Thurgood Marshall High School before transferring to Oak Hill (Va.) for his senior season, was considered a coup for then-coach Brian Gregory and the UD program. He led the Atlantic-10 in assists (5.4) last season while also scoring 8.5 points in 29 minutes per game.

Staten played AAU ball through high school in the All Ohio-Red program with Ohio State stars Jared Sullinger and Aaron Craft and Michigan State's Adriean Payne.

Former UD point guard says he will transfer to West Virginia

By Kyle Nagel | Saturday, June 4, 2011

Juwan Staten, the former Thurgood Marshall High School and University of Dayton point guard, announced on his Twitter account today that he will transfer to West Virginia.

Staten, who started as a UD freshman last season, first planned to transfer to Penn State. But after former PSU coach Ed DeChellis left the Nittany Lions for Navy last month, Staten reconsidered his decision and chose the Big East Conference Mountaineers.

Staten will have three seasons of eligibility remaining after sitting out next season due to NCAA transfer rules.

If he wanted to get some playing time, he should have honored the commitment:) to PSU. No matter the coach because he is not going to see much playing time under Huggy bear .

you just said "Staten" and "honor" in the same sentence....hilarious.
