'10 OH ATH Spencer Ware (LSU signee)

When Rivals was doing the live updates from the combine, they said Ware measured in at 5'11 227.

interesting...then he is above his playing weight from November and bigger than he looked when he was watching the Colerain v. Elder playoff game later that month. Maybe he packed on the 'Holiday 10lbs' like the rest of us? :tongue2:

Honestly, I believe 227 is too heavy for Spencer. The kid has natural, God given ability to make guys miss in the hole and hips that leave defenders picking up their jock straps in space. I do not see Spencer as a 'power back' but, with that said, I'm not a paid expert. :)

Rivals.com Football Recruiting - U.S. Army National All-Combine Team: Defense (free)

Ware plays quarterback but his physique will remind you of T.J. Duckett at the same stage. "He really had very soft hands for a muscular back," Every said. "He has four offers at this time and is best suited to be an every-down power back at the next level. Look for him to be recruited by teams that still like smash-mouth football. The only thing that needs to figure out is what position he'll play at on the next level. Once he figures that out, he'll be a star."

Duckett was a high school quarterback as well, so I imagine that is part of the thought process behind the comparison of the two.
That's doubtless true - and Duckett was a phenom out of High School. He already was at 6-0 and 255 pounds, seemingly destined to be a stud linebacker - underscoring the other part of the Duckett comparative, flexibility.

Sorry, I can't just post the pictures here, but our photographer keeps them locked and I couldn't get ahold of him to send me some. Spencer is number 11 for Princeton. Knowing he was an OSU recruit, Mike made sure he tooks lots of pictures. See for yourself and decide on his size/potential size.

Rivals $

2/24

By Helmholdt...has offers from Ohio State, Cincinnati, Duke, Wisconsin, West Virginia and NC State and would prefer to play on offense...receiving interest from North Carolina, LSU, Alabama, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan and Illinois...favors the SEC over the Big 10 and Big 12 but says he is wide open.

The word Tennessee does not appear anywhere in that update...nor are they listed in his Rivals profile anymore...what exactly that means I have no idea. Scout still lists Tennessee in his profile as having offered...
