'10 CA QB Nick Montana (Washington Signee; transfer to Tulane)

SICK I'm totally going to watch one of his games.

Maybe I can finally give one of those damn first-person recruiting reports that BP Members are so wont to give.

What are the rules about giving him money when I see him and saying, 'There's more where that came from, sonny'? I can never remember.

All you have to do is tell him your name is Pete Carroll, and the NCAA will overlook it.

I'd like to land him simply based on the prestige and publicity...and if he comes here and does well, that'll open the floodgates for all types of QB's.

The idea of the son of NFL legend Joe Montana throwing TDs to the son of NFL legend Cris Carter is quite appealing...

That's an understatement! :)

Seriously though...the press alone would lift up the program in the nation's eyes. I'll try not to get my hopes up but dang this could be fun!

I would love to see Ohio State bring back the most effective type of QB there is in the game.......an intelligent, strong-armed, and accurate pocket passer. Nothing against Terrell Pryor, he's a fantastic athlete with unlimited potential who I think will be a very well rounded QB by his senior season. But with the correct balance of run and pass, assuming your protection is effective as well (:(), a "pro style" QB who can make all of the throws is tough to beat. Of course, Montana is very mobile as well.

It's very early, my gut tells me USC could be tough to beat on this one (assuming they offer).

It still puzzles me why people continue to think that a "mobile" QB can't be as accurate as a "pro style" QB. A mobile QB "who can make all of the throws" is even tougher to beat...

Also notice that Rivals is listing Nick as a "Dual-Threat" QB. He is also apparently very good at throwing on the run.

I haven't seen any of Nick's film and pardon me for asking but if his last name was not Montana, would people still be as high on him?

LSU has offered...and Miles consistently puts together one of the best recuiring classes (regardless of rankings) year to year...do you trust their staff more than OSU's, Jimmy?

No offense but I totally disagree, especially with CFB going to more spread offenses and mobile QBs having even greater success at a higher rate now. DEs and LBs are getting smaller and faster annually and you need a QB that has a gunslinger for an arm and speed like a RB or WR nowadays. I'd take a mobile QB in college anyday, against the speed of the defenses for elite teams.

So would you consider Nick bringing back "the most effective type of QB there is in the game", a pro-style pocket passer? Because he's listed as a duel threat QB in the first post of his thread.

Just because he's white doesn't make him a pro-style QB. And likewise, just because he's a highly regarded pro-style QB from California doesn't mean he's a USC lock.

Never mind...everybody else already said it.
