'10 CA QB Nick Montana (Washington Signee; transfer to Tulane)

Diddy wouldn't say ND has great depth at QB.

They have:
Clausen (who maybe in his last year - "Lebron of FB" - though 2 at most).
Crist - highly touted RS frosh.
And no other scholarship qb's (though his brother is a walkon).

:yow1:

LOL. Did diddy just compare Clausen to Lebron?!

Hopefully this turns out well in the end. Anybody know if Georgia is recruiting any other QB's or have any scholarships out to any QB's besides Montana? Judging from the Georgia offense, I would guess they would come off more appealing, especially after having the number 1 pick in the draft. Figure this comes down to some Tressel magic hopefully.:oh:

Must be the off season.

His father has joined the coaching staff at Oaks Christian High. The nickname of 'Celebrity High' is from the famous fathers of the student-athletes.

Joe Montana Joins Staff at Celebrity High
As if it needs any more attention, Oaks Christian (Westlake Village, Calif.) adds yet another icon - Joe Montana - to coaching staff for 2009 season.

Cont'd ...

Montana shines at Berkeley Elite 11 - Insider - ESPN

Berkeley Elite 11's Best Player
Nick Montana (Westlake Village, Calif./Oaks Christian)
There were several players who had their moments, but as a group the camp lacked that one monster performance. Most players acknowledged this wasn't their best performance, but Montana was the most consistent from start to finish.

He seemed to get stronger as the day went on and showed improved arm strength from a year ago. Montana has a great frame, was solid on his drops, had a quick release and was spinning it very well. He plays with a swagger and has excellent leadership skills. Combined with some very good junior film, it's easy to see why Montana is one of the most heavily-recruited quarterbacks in the country.

"I thought I had just an average day," Montana said. "I wasn't as consistent as I wanted to be and my mechanics were messed up a little. I threw some good balls but I'm usually a lot more accurate. I don't know if nerves got to me but you have those days I guess and I just tried to battle through."

Report: Montana Silent Verbal to ND?

Not sure what this site regards TR's rumor mill as, but he seems to have been pretty accurate in the past. This would explain the recent offer to Hendrix since it appears unlikely the staff would slot 2 QB's in this class.

It's hard for me to believe anything 'ThaRinger' posts, especially inside info on Nick Montana.

I do, however, find it odd that Nick Montana has never met Jim Tressel...

It just seems odd to me that, supposedly, we were not going to offer any other QB's in this class, and now we did. If the former is true, then the latter speaks volumes about what the staff feels about landing this kid. Having said that, I truley don't feel that Nick coming to tOSU is the "hinge-pin" of our success, if you will, over the next 3 to 4 years, even though I think he would be an extremely valuable asset, and a most probable starter.

Naturally, he knew he couldn't compete with Chucks Super Bowl rings.
I'm not 100% familiar with the recruiting process, but I would bet the farm that Nick (having an offer and being Joe's son who spoke with the team in the past) has met JT.
