10 Big Ten teams Bowl eligible?

Assuming for a second here that OSU runs the table and goes to the NC game, could a 9-3 Michigan team make it to the Rose Bowl?

And I hope IU doesn't get snubbed. Not after their coach died

Considering the ASU loss, I'd say they'd be hard pressed to get there. And.. especially if it's Oregon in the Rose.... seen that one already.

Michigan has done pretty well to move past the awful start to this season, but I'm not sure that anyone has completely forgotten.

Man this is why you just don't lose to NU if you're MSU. It would be nice to see a guy like Ringer shine in a bowl game. But it's an up hill battle,Michigan and PSU are too strong for them imo,and I don't see em' outscoring Painter in his last game in West Lafayette.(MSU has not beaten anyone away from home)

Ok, but what if (hypothetically, don't flip) we beat you guys?

I remember a few years ago that one team in the entire country (Akron) was bowl-elligible and didn't make it to a bowl game. That was the same year that some SEC teams got in a brawl, and one team self-imposed a punishment of no bowl games. I think it was South Carolina. Lou Holtz's last year, maybe? Anyway, they were bowl-elligible, if it weren't for the fight. And since then, I think they've added one or two bowl games, without removing any.

My point is that pretty much every bowl-elligible team makes it to SOME bowl game. If the Big Ten gets 9 teams to be bowl-elligible, they MIGHT have one team not make a bowl game. And the way it works is the 7 teams make it to the 7 conference tie-ins, and then whoever is left has to get into bowls that have no conference affiliation, or into bowls whose conferences didn't have enough bowl-elligible teams.

Unfortunately Jaxbuck, the Sun Bowl does not have a bowl tie-in with the Big Ten. They almost have a tie-in with 3 conferences that project to have teams to send there.

Purdue's fans are old, and they don't travel well (Maryland had double their amount of fans last year at their bowl game). For the record.

If I had to choose the teams by their ability, I'd easily put it at this:

Ohio State in BCS
Michigan in Capital
Penn State in Outback
Purdue vs. Texas Tech in the Alamo Bowl would just be fun to watch, honestly.
Let Wisconsin take care of an ACC team handily.
Let Illinois beat on a weak Big 12 team.
Have our #7 take care of a MAC team.

If it ends up OSU 12-0, Michigan 9-3, Penn State 9-3, Purdue 9-3, Wisconsin 8-4, Illinois 8-4, Northwestern 7-5, I can easily see this.

Purdue vs. Penn State is a key game this coming weekend.

Didn't realize we weren't tied in with the Sun. Seems like Purdue went there every year for a while. I agree with you that Purdue travles like shit, thats why they were sent to a lesser Bowl than Wsiky a couple of years ago when they had the better conf record and such.

BTW, I like that list. I mentoned it before but if LSU goes to a BCS game that should leave UT and UGA as the two SEC schools the B10 faces this year and those two matchups are decent for us.

The way I see it, only one SEC team is going to be in a BCS bowl: LSU.

I see the SEC East lining up something like this:

Tennessee 10-3 (6-2, Loss in SEC Championship, Tiebreaker with Georgia To Get There) That, and the Vols are the only SEC team I can stand, due to family ties
Georgia 9-3 (6-2)
Florida 9-3 (5-3)
South Carolina 8-4 (4-4, losing to Clemson)
Kentucky 7-5 (3-5)
Vanderbilt 5-7 (2-6)

SEC West is:

LSU 12-1 (7-1, Win SEC Championship)
Alabama 9-3 (6-2)
Auburn 7-5 (5-3 and a #10 ranking...)
Mississippi 6-6 (3-5)
Arkansas 6-6 (2-6)
Mississippi State 3-9 (0-8)

Anyway, I'd see it all lining up like this:

Ohio State vs. LSU
Michigan vs. Tennessee
Penn State vs. Georgia or Alabama

I think that this is all doable. Michigan would not be playing the spread.

OOPS! LOL. Guess I left them out

That's 1 team I think we can all leave out!

I'm just praying one of Les Miles idiotic play calls blows up in LSU's face causing them to lose... 1, He has it coming and 2, LSU is still a damn good team. Now that I've seen LSU struggle in a few games, I think they are a beatable team although it will be quite a battle if OSU and LSU meet.

If tOSU and Oregon make the title game, a 9-3 TSUN team could play Arizona State in the Rose. But like bkb said, a 9-3 TSUN team wouldn't get selected to play Oregon.

I have 9 making it.. 1 team will find a way to go cold to finish off the year.

I have 9 making it too. I think Michigan State will be Bowl Eligable, but will get screwed out of a spot somewhere. I think Iowa will be the one that knocks them out. They "supposedly" travel better.

Agreed but with two suspensions happening before the Bama game, I don't see them coming out victorious. Perriloux was a huge part of their 3rd and 4th and short game.
