10 Big Ten teams Bowl eligible?

So with the regular season officially over, the big ten truly is at least an above-average-sized 10, with 10 bowl-eligible teams. Obviously, all 10 can't go to bowls, but its still an impressive season:

Big Ten
Already eligible
Illinois (9-3), Indiana (7-5), Iowa (6-6), Michigan (8-4), Michigan State (7-5), Northwestern (6-6), Ohio State (11-1), Penn State (8-4), Purdue (7-5), Wisconsin (9-3).

On the bubble
None
Bowl tie-ins: 7.

I think this is already reflected in the high computer ranking for tOSU in the BCS, despite suffering in the human polls (ironic?). I know I'll still be glued to college football for the next few weeks.

I understood yesterday by watching the BIG10 Network that Iowa may not be bowl eligible since thier loss to Western Michigan saturday. Is that what you heard.

I don't see how that could matter. In order to be bowl Eligible you need to have 6 wins. Now, to be picked to go to a bowl will be another matter. I think I heard that only once a bowl eligible team has not made a bowl in the last 5 years. I could be wrong with the years, but it is really rare. If I can find that stat, I will post it.

I just found this out. It kind of happens more frequent, but it is for teams not really in a BCS conferance.

Occasionally there will be more bowl eligible teams than there are spots in the NCAA football bowl games in the season. In these cases, some bowl eligible teams will not be invited to play in any NCAA football bowl game. In 2005, eight bowl eligible teams did not receive bowl bids, namely Louisiana Tech (7-4), Miami (OH) (7-4), Western Michigan (7-4), Northern Illinois (7-5), Bowling Green (6-5), Central Michigan (6-5), Louisiana-Lafayette (6-5) and New Mexico (6-5). In 2006, nine bowl eligible teams that all finished with 6-6 records did not receive bowl bids. They were Kansas, Pittsburgh, Arizona, Washington State, Kent State, Southern Methodist, Wyoming, Arkansas State, and Louisiana-Lafayette.

If you read the Wiki, it says who all is eligible and who is on the bubble and what requirements are.

It seems that NW would be the most likely to be left out since they are tied for the worst league record and they are tied have the worst overall record (outside of Minny of course). I don't know much about the bowl selection process for the Weedeater Bowls of the world, but I would think it's the same as the big ones in that you want a fan base that will travel. Iowa travels pretty damn well and I would think Indiana might expect a decent crowd with all that has gone on in the football program this year. I'd guess that MSU & Purdue would travel more than NW, so NW it the rotten egg.
