Game Thread #1 tOSU at Washington, Sat. Sept. 27th, 3:30 ET, CBS

Among other things, I think we have an advantage with both our OL and DL. And as we all know, it's in the trenches where games are won or lost. A few injuries on Washington's D (LB / DB) will likely impact the game as well. You don't want a DB with a bad wheel trying to cover Smith or Tate. And they are very young at DB depth. Not a good recipe for success.
I know we have the advantage on both LOS. For the buckeyes to lose they’d have to turn the ball over, play unsound, and make back breaking mistakes.

As long as we don’t play unsound football and take care of the ball we should win this game. That’s where the guys need to play within themselves and not let the environment force them to make mistakes.

I think we can do both play zone and bring pressure (zone blitzing/sim pressure). We do need to do more on offense compared to vs Texas otherwise we aren’t winning. This isn’t a 14-7 kind of team we’re playing it’s more a 38-21 or 38-17 kind of team.

In Day's presser today he sure seemed to indicate that though they will use all three RBs that they are going to be feeding the ball to Bo Jackson. Me likey. He's definitely a difference maker.

Ya know that was a big reason I was a fan of Hartline getting the job figuring he understood how important our WR room is. I like us to be balanced but with the best player in CFB on your team, what are you supposed to do?

Everybody say it with me...(@Jaxbuck) lead the way please.

You see that mutant out there, #4 the 1 of 1 that you have and no one else does?

Throw Him The Goddamned Ball

Bo Jackson is, I'm sure, a nice kid and very skilled but he ain't the guy you Throw The Goddamned Ball to.

Over under 3 catches for Brandon Inniss

I'll take the Over. He was actually open a great deal the past couple games but Sayin went elsewhere. I'm betting with the film time and week off Sayin will look to correct that.

Plus, we're gonna lay half a hundred on these fuckers so there will be plenty to go around.
I'll also take the over for both the same reasons and per a discussion above about the merits of working the middle on UW's oversized CBs.

As long as the defense does what they’re supposed to do, you guys can forget all those wild passing projections lol. We’ll probably get a version of the offense we saw against Texas. Conservative. Hoping to establish the run and hit some underneath passes with one or two deep PA passes a half.
Maybe I’m wrong but we’d better not play that way vs UW or that plays into their hands I think. If the defense shuts these guys down I’d be very impressed. I still don’t expect more than 24 points against but it’s unlikely we can go for 200 total yards and win this one.

We’ll need to keep pace I think and that means staying aggressive. No room for conservative approaches in this one I think. Like I said maybe I’m wrong because I certainly am a lot but I think UW is that explosive.

Can’t afford to bottle them up for 2 quarters but only be up 14-3. Drown them early and force them to abandon their run game.

Good practice for TCUN IMO. Similar teams offensively but UW has a more experienced QB and better skill. If we play TCUN conservative we’ll be playing into their hands. For a team that wants to run the ball with their physical RB you jump them early and force them into something they don’t want to do IMO. In other words you make them play your game not the other way around.
