Tennessee Volunteers Football Recruiting 2009 - ESPN

Safety D.J. Hunter has been charged with felonious assault after allegedly shooting a 15-year-old boy in the face with a BB gun, according to the Hamilton Journal-News.

The incident occurred Monday in Middletown, Ohio. Hunter was arrested Tuesday at school, posted bond Wednesday and is now free.

Hunter will no longer be included in Tennessee's recruiting plans. He had already been looking at other programs following the coaching change, including West Virginia and Illinois.

Hunter committed to Tennessee last July. He had scholarship offers from programs such as Ohio State, Michigan State, Kentucky, Indiana, Vanderbilt, Purdue, Maryland, Wake Forest and Wisconsin.

Apparently, the victim in this incident was shot twice in the the face including the eye and was seriously injured. This wasn't a case of kids playing around either becuase DJ shot this kid from a car in a "drive-by" like shooting. He'll be lucky to be playing anywhere next year.

Impressive, two headshots from a moving vehicle. He should consider the Army. Not the one at West Point, the one in Afghanistan.

Pretty shocking that his first offense has been relativly quiet till now. Though there was always smoke with why tOSU stopped recruiting him that first offense shows why. Surprised if his UT offer wasn't pulled then as well.
