Injured Male star Green expected to miss 3 games

By Jason Frakes ? [email protected] ? October 8, 2008

Male High School's Justin Green, considered one of the top candidates for Kentucky's Mr. Football award, likely will miss his team's next three games with a knee injury.
Male assistant coach William "Jelly" Green, who is Justin's father, said the player suffered a slight tear of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee Friday night during a 30-13 loss at Ballard.
"It was the second play of the game," William Green said. "He made a cut, and his cleat got caught in the turf and somebody hit him. He played the rest of the game, but he couldn't do what he normally does on offense."
Male (3-2), No. 16 in The Courier-Journal's Litkenhous Ratings, will host Southern at 7:30 p.m. Friday in a Class 6-A, District Four game. William Green said his son likely will be out until an Oct. 31 contest at Eastern or the Nov. 7 regular-season finale against Manual at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. Green, a running back/linebacker who has committed to Ohio State, leads the Bulldogs with 398 yards and eight touchdowns on 66 carries. He also has seven receptions for 37 yards and two TDs.

Green, Scott Schedule USC Visits

By Phil Kornblut
DB Justin Green (5-10 180) of Louisville and RB Rodney Scott (5-0 195) of Cross City, FL have scheduled official visits with USC. Green has been committed to Ohio State but has been looking around. Clemson, Alabama, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville and Tennessee are other schools he's been considering. Scott has been committed to Auburn but has been actively looking around, too. Ole Miss and South Florida are two others he's looking at strongly.

From O&B News...talks about visiting Illinois last weekend with his parents and says he will likely go back for an official. Says he is still pretty firm with his commitment to OSU but does not want to miss out on an opportunity to see some other schools.

Color me not concerned...at least not for the time being...

I'm having a bit of trouble with this....this kid says he wants to look at other schools, and "I'd really like to have an offer from ----!". And Tress says, "OK". Then he gets hurt, and rather than being greatful that he has a schollie from a top school, he's continuing to want to look around. I'd shut up and work on rehabing my knee and be sucking up to the coaches about how I couldn't wait to get to OSU (or wherever).

As a legacy, he should be solid. I realize he's a talent, and if Tress & Co pulls his schollie while he's injured, their name will be mud among most recruits, but come on! Maybe Tress & Co are feeling if it is serendipitious (sp?) that it'll happen, but if Clemson is where Mr. Green wants to be, then so be it, it'll open up a schollie for someone who really wants it to be a Buckeye......what am I missing here?

Green Cancels USC Visit

By Eric Guimaraes
DB Justin Green (5-10 180) of Louisville, KY was set to visit USC this weekend but had to reschedule the visit. Green, who is already committed to Ohio State, says he has been hurt and was going to use the time he was unable to play to take a trip to Columbia. Since scheduling the trip, his knee has improved and he will play this Friday. He says that does not give him time to travel. Green does hope to visit USC another time. He has also tentatively scheduled a visit to Clemson during Thanksgiving weekend. "I'm not sure I'll make that one or not," said Green. He is firm with his commitment to the Buckeyes but was encouraged to visit other schools by their coaching staff. He chose USC and Clemson because of the relationship he has with his recruiter for each school. He has not named any other schools he may visit and is unsure when he may take his trip to Columbia.
