'09 JUCO CB Mike Edwards (Hawaii Signee)

Great Athlete. I saw him play against Ignatius. Has several top flight offers but appears to be waiting for a Buckeye offer. Numbers are tight. Does anyone think we offer as a Greyshirt? I think he is a CB and we seem to have enough already committed. He could play WR also.

We have discussed this ad nauseum around here...kids with offers from Big 10 schools aren't going to take a greyshirt to OSU...no matter how much he loves the Buckeyes.

So is the main reason we haven't offered this kid is because we're waiting to hear back from the rest of the guys we offered? I know it's pretty obvious he wants to be a Buckeye, I just don't want to see him commit Illinois or even worse, scUM!

Reading the tea leaves, it seems like Hosley is Plan A and Edwards is Plan B and we will only take 1, so Edwards is kind of in limbo until Hosley makes a decision. I'd be happy with either but I agree with the coaches in that I prefer Hosley.

Sometimes this can play out for the worst or the best. Sometimes when kids have to wait on an offer from the school that they really want to go to, they get on campus to work twice as hard to cease any doubts that coaches may have had, and end up being stars. That's why there's always cases of 2-3 star recruits becoming stars at the next level.

From the UC site...after his official to Cincinnati this past weekend, which put the Bearcats up in his top group schools, Edwards will take officials to Michigan and Tennessee. May visit Illinois or Minnesota but is not real excited about taking more officials.

I know it is not over but I was hoping, like quite a few of you were, said Mike would get an offer. He really wants to be a Buckeye and you can't say that about every good Ohio high school football player.

From the Tennessee site.....says that Tennessee is number 1 on his list...also says that he will be visiting Michigan, Illinois, and Minnesota...will be visiting Tennessee (Jan 23rd).

IMO, this ship has sailed...

I wish the kid good luck wherever he ends up. You hate to see a kid who seems to bleed S&G and who has some pretty good skills not get a chance to live a dream, but by the same token, it means tOSU must feel that they are in good shape for some others they regard higher.
