?I still have an offer on the table from Ohio State. I just chose Notre Dame because I liked them the best. I have nothing but respect for Ohio State and their coaching staff, but this had nothing to do with Ohio State and my standing with them. I still had a seat on the bus,? he said.

With all due respect, would you expect the kid to say otherwise? I can't recall a kid who ever said, when committing to a school, that he had settled because his first choice pulled his commitment. I don't know whether OSU pulled his commitment or not, because two sources that I respect are saying opposite things. I just can't imagine him saying that it had happened. And it would be pretty disrespectful to ND if he did, don't you think?

There is nothing about this kid that would give the first indication he would misstate the facts for his own benefit.

I don't think our Internet rumor based conjecture trumps that.

Good for him. As much as I dislike their football team, he could have done a lot worse. He'll get a great education and a good chance to play in the NFL. Best of luck to him.

(I assume this means Illinois no longer has a shot.)
