'09 FL LB/S Frankie Telfort (Southern Cal Signee)

Scout $

07/10

By Mike Bakas...Telfort will be a part of a road trip, with other top South Florida recruits (Jaamal Berry, Vlad Emilien, James Green, and others), to check six schools (Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, Clemson, Alabama, Florida State).

I have always got the feeling that if we were to land a couple Florida kids the chances would go up for Telfort...

The "final 3" spot for the project 27 number appear to be Jaamal Berry, Marcus Hall and Vladimir Emilien. If a 28th opens then it seems the next in line would be Telfort, Corey Adams, or a 2nd TE.

I guess we will have to wait and see how the season plays out and what comes from any attrition after the season (or before).

I would add Vlad to the last list and say there are 2 spots unaccounted for if we go for 28...Just not sure on Vlad right now, but that is for another thread...

I'm surprised we're still a possibility for Telfort, but would love to have him. To that second group I think we could still take Hageman or Sims if they beat the others to the punch, and I think the next week or so will be telling w/ Martinez. If the staff really does want to take 5 OL or at least would be as happy w/ a 5th OL as a 2nd TE or another DB, I expect Martinez will finally get that offer he seems to want, given that Watt's future is now definitively known.

Actually, you're probably right. Vlad very well could be with the news of a soon-to-materialize offer from UF. I read some more regarding his siuation a little bit ago.

I just can't get over thinking how great Telfort would be out there roaming our secondary as a Strong Safety. He hits like a truck, possiably harder... very possible he hits harder, I'd actually like to see some numbers there. We are on the radar screen and he's good friends with Berry. Maybe a Berry commit helps our chances? The fact we have 6 DBs already is another reason Vlad is a bit turned off now, but Telfort can play LB and is a perfect WLB to defend the thread... that hybrid LB/S type that we have brought in the past few years (Moeller, Rolle, Hines) would be a great fit for Telfort.

To me, reading this article only enforces the idea of how much we need to beat USC. To me, Frankie's comments about us are very positive, but with the same sort of media junk that he doesn't say in reference to USC. I'd love to have Frankie, though! Lets get him to CBus and see what happens.

ESPN - Frankie Telfort Rankings, Grade, News, Stats - College Football Recruiting 2009

According to ESPN affiliate Web site CrimsonConfidential.com, Florida and Tennessee "have the inside track" for Under Armour All-American Frankie Telfort's signature.

He commented on those two programs, "I've seen Florida many times but now they've just put in a new weight room that's ridiculously huge."

"Knoxville is a beautiful town with all the surrounding hills and mountains. And Tennessee has a huge stadium. It seems like close-knit family there."

Other top schools such as Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame, USC, Clemson, Stanford, Wisconsin and Florida State are just some of Telfort's 35 or so total scholarship offers.
