Brandon has stated in several articles that he would like to commit (or would not be against making a decision) before the season started. Here is an article done by Rivals from right after he visited on OSU. Caution to those that read this article a lot may have changed since it was written as far as the order of his schools. http://ohiostate.rivals.com/content.asp?SID=917&CID=799492

Talks about his Spring Game visit. Rated it a 10 out of 10. Says the fans were crazy and that's definitely an atmosphere he wants to play in. Will make a decision before the start of his Senior season.
He is enrolled for summer school classes so that he can graduate early from high school.

I've heard from some insiders saying that there is no way that he commits to Miami.

Maybe so. (I'm starting to come back around on this guy). Miami took no less than 5 legit 4star(Rivals) potential DB's last year including Buchanan, Holton, Telemaque, Johnson and our boy, Harris, plus a couple of smaller LB's like Sean Spence and even Marcus Robinson that could end up being safety prospects...and some 2-3 star projects.

He may not end up with us, for several reasons, but I really don't think Miami is a lock, by any means.

You might be right about the cause for his move-up commit date, but I don't know that I'd read too much in to it. After all, unless he has given a silent verbal or is about to (and I haven't heard any rumors suggesting as much, but I'm no insider either), August 11 may actually be too late this recruiting season. I guess we'll find out on August 11. It is conceivable that by announcing for us on that date he'd be cutting off someone like Ezell, Adams, Sims, or Hageman for the 28th spot, assuming there is one. Still, if we were tops on his list I would think he'd just go ahead and commit given our numbers crunch.

I'm not so sure...I think Hall and Berry are pretty much in, but won't commit before the 11th. I think in no way does he cut off Adams, but maybe Ezell, Sims, Hageman, or Vlad. None of those guys will commit before the 11th, so I don't think it will be too late. Encouraging news from Newberg I guess...hopefully it turns out to be true. Then again he could just be speculating since he is commiting early with our numbers being so high. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

It reads to me as speculation due to the moving up of his commit date but as you said we shall see pretty soon.

I agree with how you projected the ships to shake out in that Adams, Berry, and Hall have ships saved, then there is the "28th" which may or may not happen depending on who McGee chooses and how the staff feels about Adams imo.

:oh:

Thanks for posting and you are right about what he was saying in April. However, in an article in May (Scout.com: Brandon McGee In No Hurry), he said he was going to wait until January and has maintained that stance until his recent announcement about August 10th.

Probably not related to OSU's class filling up, however I still think it has to be read as good news as I think it increases the chances of him becoming a Buckeye.

From FlaVarsity....Says his top 6 schools (Ohio State, Florida State, Miami, Ole Miss, Tennessee & North Carolina) are all even at this point and still plans on making a decision on August 11th. Plans on taking two more unofficials to Ole Miss & Tennessee sometime next week.

I found this on some Miami message board:

"I will not be picking Miami," he said. "It's down to Tennessee, FSU and Ole Miss."

McGee says he still has a Cane offer.

And he attended practice at UM today.

Asked if something happened today that caused Miami to not make the final 3, McGee said, "I wouldn?t say that anything happened today while I was on campus that made it the final 3. I just went down to reassure myself about Miami. When I went down there I made up my mind that my final three was going to be what it is."

Why did he decide to attend today's practice?

"I just went down there to check out the practice," he said. "I talked to all the coaches " we were just talking and they told me whatever I decide to do they?ll be behind me 100 percent."

"To be honest, I have never really been high on Miami," said McGee about his rumored favorite. "I've been there a few times and I have a good relationship with the coaches, but I don?t understand why people think I am leaning or going there. Miami really has never stood out to me. They are up and coming but I have never been infatuated with them."
