'09 CA WR Shaquelle Evans (Notre Dame signee; transfer to ????)

Scout$

06/03

Story from GBW, Evans talks about tOSU & Michigan recruiting him. He is considering visiting OSU for the game against Michigan. Says he has been in contact with coach Hazell. Says geography or the weather are not gonna be factors in his decision.

This is good to hear. BNs never has anything on him, and I don't subscribe to Scout. Hence, I had a feeling he was a longshot to pull out of Cali, but based on this it sounds like we have a better shot than many think. He would be awesome, and we could definitely get him to the NFL.

So, in other words Notre Dame is the clear leader? I always kind of thought he would stay out west . . . .

A) Sounds like things aren't going so smoothly lately for UCLA. Two decommits on defense in less than two weeks, and mumblings that Coach Walker won't be around for very long are the latest flavors of the week there.

B) Irish fans have had to be convinced that they're in the drivers seat here. Some still don't believe it, but our West Coast recruiter has been working mini-miracles this year. Coach Polian has led the way in getting Cierre Wood, Marlon Pollard, got us back into the mix with Tyler Gaffney, and was singled out in the latest article on Shaq's recruitment.

A poster cued me in about a week ago that he'd change his official visit date from Michigan to Purdue (his HS football team's bye week). Considering he did that to a) spend more time on his visit, an b) he changed his only scheduled visit before bothering to schedule any visits to other schools, I think that says a lot. Not that it matters to you guys though, since it sounds like you have other fish to fry (Hall, Martinez, Adams, McGee, TE prospects, etc).

Rivals.com Football Recruiting - Top Gun: Sunday morning QB/WR evaluations

Shaquelle Evans, 6-0, 200, WR Inglewood (CA) Inglewood

Assets: Evans has excellent speed and really can create space with his powerful body.

What was most impressive at camp: He seems to take to coaching very well and is eager to learn.

Areas for improvement: He is a tad stiff and should work on his lateral movement. Sometimes fights the ball when trying to make a catch. He really reminds me of a young Laveranues Coles.

On the Hoof: He must have less than 8 percent body fat and is really yoked up for a receiver.

ESPN - Barkley selling USC to recruits - Football Recruiting

Wide receiver Shaquelle Evans (Inglewood, Calif.) is a top 25 player nationally and has all the nation's elite programs hot on his trail. Evans has said he would like to take all five of his official visits and is nowhere near making an early commitment.

If he does pull the trigger early, UCLA is the odds on favorite in what would be a huge recruiting coup for Bruin head coach Rick Neuheisal. USC is heavily involved as well and Notre Dame will get an official visit in September. LSU, Michigan, Ohio State and Tennessee are others on the short list.
