'08 WV OL Josh Jenkins (West Virginia Signee)

I can certainly understand Jenkins desire to wait till after the season to announce he is leaving the state - I would probably do the same thing.

I just wish he would state publicly that is his intent so we could all relax.

Is Josh Jenkins West Virginia's best high school player?
By Mike Casazza

MORGANTOWN -- This is the space for editorializing, but it isn't much of an opinion.

Josh Jenkins is the best high school football player in the state.

In fact, it's probably not even really close this year.

The Parkersburg High senior verbally committed to West Virginia University for the Class of 2008, where he is considered a top 100 prospect nationally.

Such schools as Ohio State, Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech and Alabama expressed their agreement by offering scholarships.

I'd be stunned if a lineman won any "player of the year" award. It's just not a sexy position. Poeple don't pay enough attention to the line - certainly not the OL.

I normally agree, but this is WV we are talking about not Ohio. Jenkins is far and away the best football player in the state. Now if this was Ohio it could be justified giving it to a Torrence, Stoneburner, Posey, etc. over an OL.

JJ does play DT for his team as well I believe... If he has huge defensive #'s and his team rushes for a lot of yards per game, you can bet that he'll be up there with the high profile he has...
