'08 WV OL Josh Jenkins (West Virginia Signee)

Not sure at this point...lot of unknowns...was Jenkins talking to Pryor about WVU before he started talking to OSU? Is Jenkins sort of soft selling Pryor on the idea of going to same school as him, which at the moment is WVU because he is listed as a verbal to the Mountaineers still? Will Jenkins merely change his tune if/when he decides he is going to join the stellar class OSU is putting together? What will happen after Jenkins is hanging out with Adams and Brewster again next weekend?

Luckily, even if Jenkins sticks with his WVU commitment, we have three TOP NOTCH linemen already committed and a wealth of other options available. That being said, it is still WAY too early to speculate as to what Jenkins is going to do in the end.

There seems to be much info out there for both sides of this argument right now... Like Wes said, maybe he will switch that off completely when he decides one way or the other...
I don't think Josh is decided either way at this point in time, and he seems like it may take some time for him to reach that decision... The commits are on him hard though, rest assured...

What would JT do?

Note from the Gateway 7-on-7...Pryor said Jenkins has been trying to recruit him to WVU.

Wadc and all-

Gotta ask. If you are JT in this instance (or if you know him well enough, respond), don't you in some way confront Jenkins with this upon hearing it? I have always heard from my friends that have met/known him that Jim is a stand up guy. If it is me, i pretty much HAVE to at least ask JJ if he is really trying to do this (and WHY). If he is 100% committed to WVU, then let's just move on. I'd want some answers if I was JT right now.

Similarly, I have to ask all of you that if this statement is true, do you even keep trying to recruit the kid at all? I know things change, but would you want a guy on your team that was trying to convince a 5-star to go somewhere else?

I have nothing against JJ at all, in fact, I was hoping he was serious about coming here (probably against all hope), but I just think TP is a higher priority, and if cutting ties with Josh means getting Pryor in the Shoe, I say do it. I we have to go to a Plan B lineman, so be it.

I'd like to hear you thoughts on this situation if you were in JT's shoes.

I do not know the situation between Pryor and Jenkins, Jenkins and Block O, etc. I do not have any "inside" info.

With that said, I can't help but speculate that JJ is torn a little bit between his heart and his head. By "trying to recruit" Pryor to WVU, if JJ feels he is getting some interest from the #1 dude in the country, then maybe that helps validate what his heart says. I know that at different times in my life when torn between my heart and my head, I have looked for things to validate what the heart says. (For me, the head didn't need said validation.)

Confront folks based on every rumor you hear and you will live a life filled with confrontation.

This is nothing more than rumor and should be treated as such.

I disagree on a number of levels.

First, this isn't just a random internet rumor. It is a direct quote from a player. That player is our #1 recruiting target and would really have no reason to lie. I just don't get calling it a "rumor." Unless you think Pryor is lying, then it is a "fact" that Jenkins has been trying to get Pryor to WVU.

Second, this is a small class with lots of big time players interested. And it is filling up fast. If Jenkins is telling OSU coaches he is coming here but telling a priority recruit like Pryor differently, then they should try to figure out what is up. I just don't want us to miss out on other top players while waiting on a ship that is not going to be coming in.

The coaches need to figure out whether Jenkins is strongly leaning to OSU, legitimately torn or actually committed to WVU. If it is option 3 and he is dead set on WVU, then the coaches need to move on and make an offer to the next guy on their list.

I sorta agree with you on your second point, but to say that what he supposedly said is "fact" is a stretch. As Wadc said, his words are open to interpretation. Let's trust the coaches on this one.

That's a good point. Maybe the direct quote would've been along the lines of Jenkins talking to Pryor about going to the same school. Without a direct quote from either player, it's pretty meaningless unless you think the writer of the article is infallible.

Just to chime in....most articles are pretty meaningless. They're just conveying what a) the recruit wants people to know and sometimes b) what the reporter wants to twist his words into.

*not saying that any reporter is twisting Jenkins or Pryors words in this case

Psychoanalyzing a quote from an article (that wasn't even from Josh) will serve no purpose but to drive you all crazy, especially in this case when what is being said privately is vastly different than what is being said to the media... Just relax and let Josh's actions speak louder than his (public) words... Someone who is firmly committed to WVU would not visit tOSU 6 times on his own dime and take a trip to Tallahassee at his expense as well...

Even if these statements are 100% correct, I think everybody has to keep in mind that these are still 16 and 17 year olds who are changing their minds all the time. IIRC, the reason we were feeling good about Zordich was that he was "recruiting" McCarthy to OSU. Not saying we get Jenkins, just that the gnashing of teeth is premature.
