'08 WV OL Josh Jenkins (West Virginia Signee)

If I were a betting man, I would bet they end up with only three OL in this class.

Too early for this IMO. The fact that they haven't put out the offers tells me they either have Jenkins (supposedly anyway) or they have a plan B that won't reveal itself for awhile. I think we end up with four no matter what. Remember, it is only June 1st. You made some great points, but I think they know this should be the year to get 4-5.

To keep things in perspective, the past three years we have had a TOTAL of 8 commits before June 1st - and have not had more than 5 as far back as you can track things via Scout. And this is supposedly a small class.

Certainly, there is plenty of time left in the recruiting season. But one must also take into consideration other factors. For example, the staff has NOT put a lot of offers out there. As I noted earlier, I think Jenkins may be the only one. Now, we all recognize that there can be recruitment without an offer, but it appears to me the noise is very low in that regard as well. Taken as a whole, it looks to me like it is a Jenkins or nothing strategy. That conclusion may be a source of optimism as to Jenkins or it may be a reflection of the staff's willingness to settle on three. In any case, it will be interesting to watch the situation unfold.

Jenkins takes hard stance on ?soft? sell

By Mitch Vingle
Sports Editor

?I?m committed to WVU,?? he said for what must be the 1,000th time. ?I want to see the country. I can understand [WVU fans being] nervous if I de-committed. But I?m still committed.??

Understandably, though, the services have given that commitment a ?soft?? tag.

?It?s really not,?? he said. ?There?s no such thing. Either you?re committed or you?re not. That?s where people get carried away.

?It?s not soft. You?re either committed or you?re not.??

But what of the planned visits to other schools? What does that say to the WVU coaches and fans?

?I?d say this to them: Would you take these visits??? he said. ?Would you take them and see other parts of the country???
Jenkins said he understands the coaches at Michigan, Florida State, etc., hope the trips turn into more.

?They just want a chance,?? he said. ?They want me to come and see what they have to offer. But I?m committed to West Virginia. That?s where I?m going to play college football.??

i think osu will turn attention to greg shaw now.....if jenkins isn't looking good..they move on. still say osu wants 4 OL this class

Hard to say. Do they take the words in the article as fact, or do they go with the information they have been recieving from a few "close" to the situation?

I dont think for a second, either way, that if Shaw has a great camp that they wouldn't offer waiting on Jenkins.

I've read in the past the he, himself has stated he is a soft verbal. However, he is taking a firm position now. Not sure I understand why he is being so adamant about being committed if he is truly undecided or at least considering other options? Sounds very committed to me.

Hope he is just trying to get people of his back, but I can't say that I'm that confident.

Guys, consider this...

If one is 100% committed, why take all of the visits...

"To see the country" is the cliche' reasoning...a major D-1 program will afford that opportunity through his career.

I'm not saying I blame a kid at all for taking visits....I'd take all five and advise my kids to do so.

Funny thing is, I had a kid who committed early last year...he was 100% sold in his mind. Some things/rumors started happening on the staff...he decided to take a few visits. That 100% suddenly was not so concrete. Ironically, WVU was one of those visits that about changed his mind.

For someone who is 100% committed, Josh sure seems set on seeing these campuses and hearing the pitches of the other coaches.

He very well could stick with WVU...but until he says "no more visits," tOSU is still in the ballgame and in great shape.

I consider him as gone. I wouldn't hang ay expectation at all on getting him. Not to say I would stop contacting him but that I would exert my influences on other propects who are not 100% commited.
Also knowing that ,If true that, 4 O liners are what we want in this class I wouldn't necessarily give one just to have four. Especially with the limited amount of schollies we have left. We don't have to have a certain number of players at any one position . We just need 15 this year that fit our team.
