'08 OH ATH Johnny Adams (Michigan State signee)

Is there a reason for no offer for Adams? Is it grades or are there just players higher on the board? He seems like a Ted Ginn type of player and it would be nice to have another one of those.

Just an opinion of course, but I think the staff is being a little slow with the offers to DB's due to the fact that they brought in such a huge haul like last year, and I am sure the departure of Beckman can't help in terms of DB recruiting.

Also he is in-state and loves the Bucks, so they know they can afford a little more time to evaluate.

Athleticism and potential are obvious...but so is the 157 lbs. Long frame...

When I graduated high school I was a tad over 5'10" and was 135 pounds...no kidding, that skinny. In USAF basic training a few months later I gained almost 20 pounds in six weeks. When I got into serious weight training and diet, I was 180 lean pounds and benching 340 (albeit I was about 38 at the time) and speed-wise I was faster than I ever was in my life.

The point of all this is that 1.) A kid his age still has growing and filling out to do and that 157 pounds can become 180 good quality pounds quickly, and 2.) Although his frame may suggest he might be limited in the amount of mass he can gain without losing speed and/or quickness, if someone as flat out scrawny as I was (very thin frame) near his age can get as big as I've been size-wise and while improving their natural speed, there's no reason why Johnny can't get to 180-190 while improving his speed (ala Ginn).

And anyone who returns nine punts for TDs in a season needs be looked at very hard...

In case anyone doubts that a kid his age can gain 20 pounds of muscle in less than a year without losing quickness, speed, and agility--and in fact enhancing them--check the Mike Conley thread:

Conley has gone from 158 to 180 as a freshman...and that's on a thinner frame (2 inches taller...6'1" vice 5'11"). Anyone think that Conley isn't fast, quick, or agile?
