'08 NV PF Luke Babbitt (Nevada Verbal)

Babbittit is rated higher than Gates by the recruiting gurus for whatever that is worth. I also think that TMrates him a little higher. He can just do more things.

I am a little confused about Pryor I did not think you could be ona major scholarship like football or basketballand play for the other teamwithout that scholarship counting against that team. I am almost sure that when Rickey Dudley played football and basketball that when he did play basketball it counted against the scholarship limit for basketball. I don't know maybe the rules have changed since that time.
it goes to the higher revenue sport i believe... someone can confirm that, but thats talk for another thread (pryor)

Not to get to far off topic......if a prospect who is attending tOSU on scholarship for football will be considered a walk-on for basketball.

That is correct...

Now back to Babbitt...

Considering I think the Roe ship has started to set sail, and the fact that the contact with Gates has been minimal, I would say the staff is putting their energy into Babbitt. Getting Pryor without having him count against the basketball schollie limit would be huge.

Wadc....is dead on with his take......Babbitt is the #1 choice at this point.

Game notes: Babbitt, a junior, said he already knows who he's going to give a non-binding verbal commitment to, but is keeping the decision secret. "I haven't spilled the beans, yet," he said.

Babbitt said he hopes to make the announcement next week. Babbitt has narrowed his final five choices to Nevada, Ohio State, UCLA, Gonzaga and Arizona.

It's possible that Offutt is underrated, Oregon...but you are just saying that because he's a Buckeye verbal. He's done nothing to warrant being rated higher than he is, which is in a very respectable slot. Just being realistic. Offutt looks like a nice player, and I don't mind him being part of the class at all. Babbitt, Buford, and Crater might be every bit as good as anybody else in the nation. Not sure what I think of Mullens compared to the rest of the nation; he's kind of hard to read. Regardless, just as some had North Carolina's class of 06 ahead of ours, I wouldn't complain one bit if somebody steals the 08 ranking from us, as well. All five of those recruits are prime-time, and we'll be real happy to have them (assuming Babbitt is coming our way). If Babbitt gets on board and the class gets the number one ranking, then congrats to them.

No, I say that because he was downgraded after he was injured. I believe he was originally a 5 star prospect.
