Telep has quotes from Luke...and a couple of names OSU might target to replace Luke.

Yeah, you could look at it that way..but it's a bit different IMO. It's a heck of a lot harder to fill a basketball spot than a football spot. We could have had a Gates or a Frease...good Ohio boys.

I think his attitude put me off a bit too. I'm sure there is more too it, but he sure didn't sound too upset about leaving Matta and OSU hanging.

Understand your point...I guess I don't have a problem with the kid wanting to stay home and making the decision over a year before he is to enroll in the school of his choice.

I would be shocked to see Matta not target someone immediately. Telep mentions Greg Monroe, Michael Dunigan and Tyler Zeller as possible replacements. I think we are too late for Monroe and Indiana is desperate to land Zeller with UNC looming. I don't know anything about Dunigan. There is also the little matter of some kid named Terrelle Pryor...maybe some of you have heard of him.

Thing is, in years gone by, or for the purpose of Ohio State Basketball the years we can call B.M. (Before Matta) this would be seen as a devastating loss to the class. Now, the assumption is A) Matta will re-load, perhaps "trading up" B) there is a plan "P" as in Pryor or C) we are fine and it releases a schollie for a year beyond.

Matta raises all expectations.

Babbitt was perhaps a 4 year player who was basketball all the way. Pryor may play 3 years..and basketball will be a "2nd sport". To me it doesn't even come close to making up for the loss.

Haven't you learned the primary rule of Buckeye fandom "What is best for the football program is always paramount!":oh::io:

Agreed.

Babbitt is also a perimeter shooter. Can Pryor fill that same niche?

This does open a spot for Eric Wallace to play more at the "4" spot for us, especially with guys like Diebler, Turner and Buford on the wings now (I am expecting Offutt to play more point than on th wing). You can't blame a kid for wanting to stay close to home, it is a big decision. so good luck to Luke at Nevada!
