'07 SC WR Junior Hemingway (Michigan signee)

GoUpState

May 16, 2006

Coaches Parade Thru Conway

By Phil Kornblut
WR Junior Hemingway (6-2 205) of Conway recently added his 22nd offer when LSU expressed their desire to sign him. USC's Steve Spurrier and Notre Dame's Charlie Weis have been by the school as have assistants from Clemson, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Michigan and Ohio State. All have offered along with Florida State, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Boston College, Miami, Louisville, Florida, Georgia and Auburn. Hemingway does not have a favorite and is staying wide open. He said he's been talking with some in state players who have made commitments, like Byrnes quarterback Willy Korn (Clemson), Richland Northeast defensive back Gary Gray (USC) and Spring Valley offensive lineman Quintin Richardson (USC). "That has not impact," Hemingway said. "I'm still going to decide on where I'm going to go."

Not to be left out, an update from the Weasels...Junior will camp at Michigan and they were the first to offer. He will visit Ohio State, Notre Dame, Miami, Florida, Florida State and Michigan unofficially this summer.

Totally unsubstantiated rumor out there, but nonetheless some poster claiming to have "inside" info on Hemingway's recruitment on a South Carolina board claims Hemingway will verbal to Michigan at their camp this summer.

Please don't shoot the messanger or take this as fact. To my knowledge this isn't somebody who is well-connected or usually 100% bulletproof like unionfutura or Honor&Glory. Nonetheless I think Michigan is the team to beat for Junior. Hypothetically speaking, if he did verbal in the summer to Michigan I wonder how this would affect Washington or Clemons recruitment.

hey I thought I was saying that for a while now. :)

Wouldn't effect Clemons as he's well aware of <st1:state><st1 ="">Michigan </st1></st1:state> recruiting strategies, <st1:state><st1 ="">Washington</st1> </st1:state>though I'm not sure. It'll be quite intimidating coming into a situation with two top 100 recruits at your position in the same class.

Amazing...

1. Michigan has a five loss year
2. Michigan is struggling to beat rivals and winning bowl games
3. Michigans player development is being questioned(see Gabe Watson)
4. Michigan loses some coaches, and Carr is on the hot seat

Of course, they are in great position to land two of the top recievers in the country. :smash:

Michigan - signs 5-star prospects, produces 3-star talent
Ohio State - signs 3-star prospects, produces 5-star talent

I like our chances.

They bring in two of the top receivers in the country, we will bring in the best secondary class in the nation (Oliver, Torrence, Evenge, Clifford, Arnold...).

As much as I hate to say it, I don't think you can say that we will have the best secondary class in the nation. This may go to Michigan. They have Jeremy Finch, Rojo, Dionte Allen, and the POSSIBILITY of Clifford(All of which could be Top 100 players and a couple of 5 Star caliber). We are not even guaranteed Torrence, as he may go the baseball route. Of course, we still develop the talent better than anyone else....

Junior will visit tOSU sometime next week. He is visiting ND, tOSU, and then Michigan. After those trips he will visit Florida and Miami. Coach Hazell is in touch frequently. Junior says that if he doesn't decide on a college before the season that he will take official visits.
